This invention relates generally to signal lamps, and more particularly to a signal lamp intended for use on railroad systems, the main object of the invention being to produce 5 a signal lamp having a base and a shell body provided with a plurality of lenses rotatable relative to said base. My improved signal lamp also includes means carried by the base thereof throughthe medium of which rays'of light from the light source within the lamp may be prevented from passing through certain of the lenses in the lamp shell according to the adjustment of the shell upon the base supporting it.
With the foregoing and other objects in view," the invention comprises the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more specifically described andillustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown the preferred embodiment of the invention. However, it is to be understood that the invention comprehends changes, variations and modifications which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

The shell B of my improved signal 5 lamp is spherical in shape and is provided with a plurality of lenses C, and said shell is also provided with a cover D at the top thereof which is hinged to the shell at the point indicated by the reference character E. My signal lamp also includes a suitable fastening device F by means of whichthe cover D may be fastened in a closed position.
Secured to and extended from the base A of the signal lamp is an arm G by means of which said signal lamp may be secured to a suitable support when in service. In the preferred construction of my improved signal lamp the base A comprises a plate circular in plan view and provided with 9 a depressed center portion A, as shown in Fig.
