This inventionrelates to new and useful improvements in clasps for collars and aims to provide a novel, simple, ornamental and mexpensive clasp of this variety wherein the .ends of the clasp will properly engage with the ends of the outer fold of the collar to prevent loss of the clasp.

Furthermore the nature of the invention i such. as to enable the present clasp to be easily 10 associated with or removed from the collar which overcomes one of the main disadvantages inherent in clasps of this variety.

New having particular reference to the drawing my novel clasp consists of an arcuate shaped bacm'ng strip 5 of suitable length and width and preferably of metal, bone or other desirable material.

tion of these levers 6-6 with the backing str p 5 in spaced relation with said backing strip the opposite side edges of each lever are formed with inwardly extendingears 8-8 their lower ends of which are loosely associated with a cross pin 9 suitably secured to the backing strip. However, it is to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to this particular character of pivotal association between-the levers and backing strip as departures may be had therefrom without affecting the operation of the device.

The inner end of each lever (i is formed at its opposite longitudinal edges with inwardly extending ears 10-10 the opposite vertical edges of each of which are formed directly beneath the respective lever 6 with inwardly extending fingers 11--11. These ears 10-10 and fingers l111 serve to provide a housing for an expansible coil spring 12 arranged therein and between the hacking strip 5 and levers 6. Qbviously each coil spring serves to maintain the forward headed end of the respective lever 6 in frictional enga ement with the backing strip 5 and when thee asp is in position as illustrated in Fi ure 1 to tight 1y secure the collar materia between the heads of the lovers and said backing strip. When it is desired to apply or remove the clasp all that it is necessary is to press with the thumb and forefinger upon the inner ends of the levers and the center of the backing strip. This then raises the forward ends of the levers away from the backing strip as is obvious.

In view of the foregoing description when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawing it will be apparent that I have provided a novel simple and useful collar clasp that is well adapted for all of the purposes heretofore designated and even though I have herein shown and described the invention as COnsiSting of certain detailed structural elements it is nevertheless to be understood that some changes may be made therein without affecting the spirit and scope of the appended claim. I

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In a collar clasp of the character described,
