This invention relates to improvements in window sashes and more particularly to a window sash of the sliding type.
The prime aim of this invention is to obviate the necessity which at present compels window washers to expose themselves exteriorly of a window in order to properly clean the same, thus subjecting themselves to considerable danger and frequently because of the imminence of this danger the outer side of the sash is not thoroughly cleaned.
The prime object of this invention therefore is to provide a side construction for windows wherein the pane may be reversed within the sash frame to permit the cleaning of both sides thereof without endangering the person so working. i
Another important object of the invention is to provide a window sash construction of the above nature capable of being easily adjusted to reversed position and being of such simple construction as to allow the manufacture thereof at a cost only slightly above the cost of the present type of sash.
Still another object resides in the means employed for connecting the reversible pane to the sash frame whereby the pane may be swung completely inward of the sash frame 7 and reversed to a position convenient to the person cleaning the same.
After reading the following specification and claims, other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent.

As the upper and lower sashes of a window construction such as is disclosed in Figure 1 of the drawings are identical, the description of one will suffice for both. '70
'i The sash consists of an outer frame 1 provided with an inwardly disposed'fiange 2 arranged continuously within the frame. The inner vertical edge portions of the outer frame lare formed with elongated channels 33. j The portion of the flange 2 at the top of the outer frame 1 has a plate4 secured to its outer side and is formed with a threaded opening therein in registry with an opening through the flange 2. v 1 The sash also includes an inner frame 5 'within' which a "transparent pane 6 is mounted. Obviously, this pane neednot necessarily be of a single sheet, as the ,inner frame 5 may be allotted into numerous divisions devised to retain a plurality of panes if desired.
An elongated arm 7 is pivotally secured at i one of its ends to the upper end portion of each channel 83 of the outer frame 1. Each vertical edge of the inner frame 5 is formed throughout a major portion of its length with an undercut groove. A plate 1.8 is formedf throughout its intermediate longitudinal portion with an undercut channehan'd this intermediate portion is disposed within the undercut groove of the inner frame edge in the manner designated by numeral 9.
The opposite ends of the arms ,7 are equipped with laterally disposed protuberances 10 each having an enlarged head 11 engaged Within the undercut channel of the plate 8.
Obviously, by moving this latter end portion of each of the arms 7 to the lowermost portion of the plate 8, the inner frame may be disposed within the outer) frame in the manner shown in Figure 1. p
A threaded bolt 12 provided with a wing head 13 is engageable through anopening in the upper portion of the inner 'frame' 5 while its threaded end portion may be fed into the threaded opening of the plate l'whereby" to secure the inner frame within the outer frame.
By unscrewing the bolt 12, the inner frame 5 may be pulled outwardly ofvthe outer frame to a position as shown in Figure2. By effect,- ing a substantial horizontal pullfion :the upper end ofthe inner frame, the outer ends of the arms 7 "will be disposed toward the opposite end of the slotted plateJ8. y
In this manner the inner frame will assume a reversed position whereby the pane may certainly be easily cleaned. 1
Obviously, certain changes in the specific shape, size or materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the appended claims.
