This invention relates to a holder suitable for cigars in order to preserve the smoker against the harm caused to the organism by the continued absorption of the nicotine contained by the tobacco and it has as an; ob-

j ect to provide a holder of suchtype provlded with firm and secure means for its permanent hold on the cigar.

Another object is to provide means for concealing the union of the holder and the cigar by means of a special wrapping giving the whole a more likable appearance as well as a uniform appearance, as if it were a single unit.

The invention is described with reference to the figures of the enclosed drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a longitudinal outside View of a cigar provided with the holder which is covered by the same tobacco leaf that envelops .the filler of the cigar.

Fig. 2 is a longitudinal outside view of the same cigar but placed at an angle of 19 with the plane of view shown in Figurel and partially in section in order to show the means holding the holder to the cigar.

Fig. 3 is a longitudinal outside View of a finished cigar without tip and the holder set apart but ready to be inserted on the cigar.

Fig. 4 is a longitudinal outside view of the cigar and holder together.

Fig. 5 is a longitudinal outside view of the cigar and holder together, with a sheet of flexible material ready to wrap the holder and part of the cigar.

This" invention consists i-njad'apting to a tipless cigar 1 a holder 2 which may be made of any material of organic or inorganic nature such as wood, celluloid, amber, hard rubber, gutta-percha, etc., or else any light metal, such as aluminum. This holder has on its inside, just like the usual holders, a semi-ovoid I double ended two pronged device the remaining two points 7 of which are directed against the opposite side and are a bit wider than points 6,-being designed to be inserted on the a cigar 1, as shown by Fig.2 of the drawings.

This two pronged device may be made of any substance, color, shape and size, but is preferably of metal. Also, instead of being a free unit, the two pronged device may be made a unit or integral part with the holder, in which case it would be but a simple fork projecting from the opening 8 of the holder. Vfithin the cavity 3 of the holder, which is crossed by the two pronged device, is placed a piece of raw, cotton 8, the purpose of which is to absorb the nicotine carried by the smoke of the tobacco.

As aforesaid, the holder 2 is joined to the cigar linserting on the end of the latter the points of the fork projecting from the holder.

And the holder, joined to the cigar, is covered a by means of a wrapping which may be the same wrapping of tobacco leaf, as shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings, said leaf extending to envelop the holder 2 up to the edge of same that is placed in the mouth. But preferably, a separate wrapping is used, which wrapping consists of a sheet 9 which may be of paper, rubber, leather, cork or any other substance, the blank of which is shown in Fig. 7 of the drawings, said sheet being previously gummed on one of its sides and being applied by rolling same over the holder 2 and the adjacent portion of the cigar 1, sufiicient length being provided on sheet 9 with 5 the above purpose. The wrapping 9 may bear on its outside face a fringe or trimming 10 for the sake of adornment, either stamped in gold or in different colors.

The inside of the holder or the piece of raw 10 cotton 8 may be impregnated with a balsamic or aromatic substance, such as tar, 'mint, clover, amber, vanialla, bergamot, etc., in order to give the smoke a pleasing taste.

Once the invention described, what I claim is 2-- A cigar holder having a recess adapted to contain a fibrous material, and a securing means having spaced prongs at one end there of extending through the fibrous material and into the holder and having two spaced prongs at the opposite end adapted to be inserted into a cigar.
