My invention relates to mechanical refrigl and the principal object of my invention 1s to provide a new and improved unit of this type. In the drawings accompanying this specification and forming a part of this application I have shown,/for purposes of illustration, one form which my invention may assume. In these drawings:

The embodiment of my invention hereln shown comprises a refrigerator cabinet 11 divided into a refrigeration compartment 12 detail on the and a compressor com artment 13 and comprisinga shield 14 havlng a wing 15 arranged to separate the refrigeration compartment 12 into a refrigerating section 16 and a refrlgerated section 17 separated except for convection openings at the top and bottom, and havin also a wing 18 integral wlththe wing 15 an closing the front of the refrlgerating section 16 except for an opening 19 arranged to provide access through the Wing 18 to receptacles 20 for the formation of artiiclal ice, the receptacles 20 being supported by suitable cleats 21 secured to the walls'of an aperture 22 formed in a brine tank-123 posi' ticned within the refrigerating sectlon 16 vto provide refrigeration of the refrigeration compartment 12 and itself refrlgerated by means of an expansion coil (not shown) contained therein and havin its inlet 24 con- I nected to an expansion va ve 25 and its outlet 26 connected to end turns 27 encircling a thermostat 28 provided with a thermostatic` switch 29.
Mounted Within the compressor compartment 13 is an electric motor 30 having one terminal connected directly to the line conductor 31 and the other terminal connected to the line conductor 32 through an intermediate conductor 33 and the thermostatic'VY switch 29, and operating by means of a belt 34 a compressor 35 also disposed Within the compressor compartment 13 having its inlet connected by means 'of a duct 36 to the-end turns 27, and having its outlet connected by means of a duct 37 to the inlet of a condenser,38 also disposed Withinthe compressor compartment 13 and having'its outlet connected by means of a duct 39 to the expansion valve 25. f
Within the refrigeratorI section 17 I have shown shelves 40 ,arranged to carry the material to be refrigerated and supported in position by means of cleats 41 secured on one -side to the wall ofthe refrigerator cabinet 11 and on the other side to the Wing 15 of the shield 14.
In the embodiment of my invention herein shown I provide access to the compressor compartment-13 by means of an opening 42 arranged to be closed by means of a suitable door 43, and to the refrigeration compartment 12 by means of an opening 44 affording access at all times to the ice receptacles 20 and the refrigeratedsection 17 and, upon-removal of the shield 14, to the entire refrigerating apparatus including the brine tank 23 and the expansion valve 25 and the'thermostat 28, and
in the embodimentof my invention herein shown I provide a single door 45 arranged to close the entire opening 44,' consisting ofan inner wall 46 and an outer wall 47 spaced -44 until the bolts 55 and 56 and 57 are Withdrawn by rotation of the disc 51 permitted by the lock 48 and effected through the shaft 52 by means of a handle 58 positioned on lthe end of the shaft 52 exteriorly of the door 'From the above description. it will be" obp vious to those skilled in the art that I have provided mechanical refrigeration means wherein the expansion means and the control 5 means and the ice means'and the refrigerating section and the refrigerated section and the material within the refrigerated section are all accessible th h, a single opening, provided with a sin e door forclosing this 10 opening, and provi ed on this'door with a lock disposed within the walls of the door out. of communication with Athe refri ration compartment and arranged to lock t e door closed to thus prevent access to the expansion 15 means and the control means and the' ice means and the refrigerating section and the refrigerated section and the material withinthe refrigerated section. f
