This invention relates to a new and improved method l'or the assembly and instal lation of turn tables.
ln assembling and installing turn tables it is very essential that the turn table be level and that the track which supports it also be level. lllhen the turn table proper is assembled without reference to the track and the track is laid without reference to the turn table it is extremely diflicult to obtain a satisfactory installation and it' the turn table and the track are not properly installed the operation of the turn table will be dii-heult and the wear on the different parts will be enu cessive. y
The main object of my invention is to devise a method whereby a turn table may be assembled and installed in conjunction with the track upon which it is supported so that when the installation has been made the turn table and the track must be properly installed in relation to each other and in relation to the surface of theroadway or floor in which it is installed.
Other objects and advantages relate to the means employed and to the progressive steps used in accomplishing the desired results all as will more fully appear trom the 'following description taken in conjunction with the ac 3o companying drawings, in which:

A top bearing plate -`-5- is secured to the under surface of plate -lby means et bolts -6` which extend upwardly through plate l, stringers -3 and top plate -2. A bottombearing plate 7h is positioned in a support -8- preferably of concrete. A ball -9 is interposed between bearing plates *5- and -7-. A roller -9- is secured to the under surface of each of the stringers M3 at the outer end tl1ereoi' by means of bolts -10%. Adjacent string ers -3- are secured together by means of planks -11- for the purpose of securing stringers 3- in spaced relation and to provide a platform :For the turn table. A cirrnilar track -12- is positioned beneath the under surface of stringers 3` and in registration with the under surfaces of rollers -9-. I also provide on the end of each stringer "-3- an eil tube M13- in communication. with the bearing oit rollers -94- so that the same may be supplied with lubricant :trom time to time as desired. l also provide through one of the stringers -r a vertically extending oil tube -13- through which lubricant may be supplied to the track -12-- Another oil tube l5- extends through top plate -2-, bottom plate -1 and bearing plate -5- to permit the supplying of lubricant to ball 9-.
F or the purpose of retaining the turn table in a lined position when desired I provide on the upper surta ce thereof two opposed latches -16 and -17- which may alternately be placed in registration with a keeper -18- which is positioned adjacent the upper surface of the turn table.
` Mv improved method of assembling an d i nstalling turn table consists of providing a pit as 19- circular in shape and of a di` ameter greater than the diameter of the turn y table and of a depth so that when the supporting base -20-, preferably of concrete, has been placed in position the upper surface of the turn table will be iush with the surrounding ground or floor in which the turn table is installed.a
At the central point of the pit- -19- I lplace the support 8 and the bearing -7-. The top plate -2, bottom plate -1-, bearing plate -5-, Vstringers -3- and rollers #-9- are then assembled in the manner above described.
vFor the purpose of insuring that the concrete base and side wall which I provide for pit 19- shall be in the proper position in relation'to the turn table I provide a concrete form 2lof a size and shape to register with the ends of stringers 3. Form -2lis provided with spaced brackets +22- at its upper edge which register with the top surfaces of stringers -3- and which are secured thereto by means of bolts 23-. Supporting bracket -24- has its upper end secured to bolt -23 and its lower end secured to form 21 by means of pin -Q5-- I preferably make form -21- in sections so that it may be disassembled to permit of easy transportation. For the kpurpose of permitting snchassembly and disassembly of form -21- I provide on the ends of the sections of form -21 a dove-tail member 2G- which is inserted into a corresponding groove in bracket -22- and which may be removed therefrom as desired.
The dove-tail members 26g are so p0- sitioned on form -21- that when they are inserted into brackets -92, brackets 2Q- being secured to stringers -3, stringers -3- will be held in the proper spaced relation with reference to each other.
Track -12- is preferably made in sections held together by opposed track angles -27- and -28- which are secured thereto by rivets Track angles -27- and j 28- in addition to securingr the adjacent ends of track -12- together function as anchors in the concrete base upon which the track is eventually supported.
VI next secure track -12- to rollers -9- by means of clamps -30- which have inwardlyl extending jaws -31- in registration with the flanges '32- of rollers 9.- and which have another set of jaws -33- bctween which track 12- is secured. Clamps SO-.are held in position by means of` belts I next place upper bearing -5- in registration with lower bearing -T- and with ball .-9- therebetween.
Stringers f3-H are then supported by means of posts 35- and wedges -36-. By means ofwedges w36 the outer ends of stringers--3- are then raisedor lowered as may be required until the upper surfaces of stringere are level.
Cement is then poured onto the bottom of pit 19- and between the outer surface of form -21- and the inner surface of pit -19-. The pouring of the cement is continued until it is of a suicient thickness to cover the lower edges of track l2- and the outwardly flaring port-ions of track angles Q7- and -28-.
It is preferable to so form the bottom surface of pit 19- that pit 19 will be deeper on one side than on the other and when this is done, as perhaps may best be seen from Figures 7 and 8, one edge of track -12- will be approximately iush with supporting base 20- as shown at -aw on Figure. 7 while the other side of track l2 will be supported upon a built up portion -37- of supporting base -20. Raised port-ion -2'37 gradually diminishes in height until it merges with supportil'lg base 20- The purpose of this construction is to permit the drainage of water from the higher portion of supporting base -20- to the lower portion of supporting base 20- and in order to permit the removal of such moisture I provide in raised portion 3T- an opening -38 in registration with a drain pipe 3.9- which leads to a sewer or cesspool, not shown.
When the concrete is being poured I place adjacent the outer end of one of the stringers p3- a form of wood (not shown) so that when form -21 is removed and the form of wood also removed there will be a recess WlO- in the outer wall of the pit lining which recess will permit the insertion of lubricant into oil tubes -13- as the same are brought into registration with it. A cover -41- is normally in position over recess -40--.
IVhen the cement has become set I remove clamps -30 from track -12- and rollers -9- and I also remove form 2l- .from the ends of the stringers -w by removing bolts Q3-which bolts Q3- are replaced by bolts #10- to secure rollers 9 in position. I also remove wedges MStB- Planks 11- are then placed in position on stringers -3- and secured thereon by screws or other convenient means.
The method of assembly and installation of a turn table as just described insures that the rollers on the turn table will be in proper relation to the track and it also insures that the turn table as a whole will be in proper relation to the pit in which it is positioned.
It will be understood that my method and installation of a turn table may be applied to any turn table which is provided with rollers and a supporting track therefor without departing from the spirit of my invention for altho I have shown and described my method of assembly and installation as applied to a particular type of turn table as an exemplifcation of my method I do not desire to restrict myself to the particular type of turn table shown for my method may be applied to dilierent types of turn tables and it may also be modified to a considerable extent Without departing from the invention as disclosed in the appended claims.
What I claim is:
l. The method of assembling and installing a turn table comprising assembling the center bearing of the turn table With the radially extending stringe s, assembling t-he outside rollers on the stringers, spacing the stringers, securing the track to the underside of the rollers and flowing concrete beneath the turn table to grip and secure in position the track, and releasing the track from the rollers.
2. The method of assembling and install ing a turn table comprising assembling the center bearing thereof With the radially extending stringers, attaching a concrete form to the outer end of the stringers, attaching rollers to the underside of the outer end of the stringers, securing a. track to the rollers, flowing concrete around the form and beneath the turn table to a depth sui'licient to grip the track and secure the same in position, and then releasing the track from` the rollers and the concrete form from the stringers.
3. The method of assembling' and installing a turn table comprising assembling the center bearing of the turn tab-le With the radially extending stringers, placing the stringere with their upper lsurfaces in a level position, assembling the outside rollers on the stringers, spacing the stringere, securing the track to the underside of the rollers and ioW- ing concrete beneath the turn table to grip and secure in position the track, and releasing the track from the rollers.
4. The method of assembling and installing a turn table comprising assembling the center bearing thereof With the radially eX- tending stringers, placing the stringere With their upper surfaces in a. level position, attaching a concrete form to the outer end of the stringers, attaching rollers to the under* side of the outer ends of the stringere, securing a track to the rollers, flowing concrete around the form and beneath the turn table to a depth sufiicient to grip the track and secure the same in position, and then releasing the track from the rollers and the concrete form from the stringe-rs.
