IMPROVEMENT m SAFETY ATTACHMENTS FoR STOVE-PIPES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,196, dated February 8, 1876, application filed November 4, 1875.

I To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that -I, JOSEPH H. WILBER, of the town of Willong'hby, county of Lake and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Mode of PreventinglDanger by Fire at the Entrance of the Stove-Pipeinto the Chimney-Flue; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description.

The nature of my invention consists in providing the chimney-flue, at the entrance of the pipe, with a metallic safe and drawer. By

- the safe the fire is securely protected from esand is attached to, and is a part of, the safe.

Soot, ashes, &c., falling from inside of the chimney are caught in the drawer, which is fitted into the case, and can be drawn and emptied at pleasure. I I

There is a door closely fitted to the mouth or front of the case, which, when shut, prevents the escape of fire into the room in case of the chimney burningout. Just above the 7 case is a thimble, which is attached to, and is a part of, the safe for the admission of the pipe, the upright part, the case, and the thixnble forming one entire piece.

What I claim as lily-invention, and desire to secure by LettersPatent, is

The combination of the case, drawer, and thimble with the chimney-flue, substantially as described. i
