Application filed December 23, 1927. Serial No. 242,229.
The present invention is directed to iinproveinents in window refrigerator boxes.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a box of this character so constructed that it can be used in connection with windows varying in width and vwhen in place will serve to maintain articles of food in a cool state.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this cl aracter so constructed that it can be easily installed for use or removed, means being provided to maintain the box in av thoroughly ventilated condition and at the same time preventing the entrance of dust oi other foreign matters.

The device consists of two sections, 1 and 2, each consisting of a top 3, back 41, and bottom 5, and end closure 6, the section 2 having shelf 7 suitably supported therein and upony which articles of food maybe placed. The
inner edges of the respective tops and bottoms It willy be of course understood that the beads of the section 2 are somewhat smaller than the beads of the section 1, in order that the latter may slide within the former, thereby permitting the twosections to be telescopically connected.
Suitably secured to the forward ends of the enclosure 6 are vertically disposed* casings 16 and in which are removably mounted spring restrained rollers 17 having wound thereon copper mesh screen closures 18 which serve to normally close the open sides of the sections. The free ends of the closures 18 are confined between bars 19, the upper and lower ends of which being provided with semi-circular terminals 20, constituting heads 21 for slidably engaging the upper andy lower grooves 8 of the respective sections 1 and 2.
Fivotally engaged with the bars -19` are handles 22 and to the inner ends of which are .15 to hold the closures fully closed or partly open, as desired. Acoil spring 25 connects the inner bars 19 and blocks 23 and serve to urge the latch bars to their locking position, 'as will be obvious.
To the end closures 6 are adjustably connected brackets 2G which serve'to maintain the box in proper horizontal position within the window frame.

vArs clearly shown in Figure 5, the plates 28 .are engaged with the parting strips 31 of the l window frame 32, it being obvious that upon adjustment of the bolts in one direction will expand the plates 28 to cause the ends thereof to bindingly engage the parting strips, thus holding the box iirmly in place. When the window sash 38 is in the position as shown in Figure 2 of the drawings, access may be conveniently had to the closures 18 in; order that they may be opened or closed. It will be ob-l vious that when the sash is lowered or closed These bars are i the cold air `will be permitted to enter through the closures to maintain the contents of the box in a cool state.
The construction illustrated in Figures 8 and 9, as in the other form, consists of a pair of telescopically connected sections 34 and 35. These sections are provided With double Walls 3636 and 37-37, respectively, in order to provide spaces in which an insulating medium 38 can be contained, which may be Y of any kind suitable for the purpose.
Then a double Wall construction is used it will be necessary to provide the section 84: with flanges 39 in order that the space between the sections When extended Will be closed to prevent entrance of cold air into the dwelling.
Having thus described the invention, I claim:
l. A box of the class described comprising a pair of sections, the sections including a top, bottom and back, the top and'bottom of each section having inner and outer beads deining a groove therebetween, the inner beads having perforations therein, said beads being adapted to slidably intertit when the sections are in telescopic relationship, spring restrained rollers carried by the sections, Wire mesh closures Windable on the rollers, bars lixed to the tree ends of the closures and having heads for slidably engaging said grooves, latch bars carried by said bars for selectively engaging the perforations of the inner beads, and means for actuating the latch bars.
2. A Window box consistingof a pair of telescopically connected sect-ions adapted to iit in a Window, said sections being provided With inner and outer beads dening grooves therebetween, the sections having open sides,
Y flexible closures torthe open sides of each section, said closures having bars carried thereby and provided With heads for slidably engaging the grooves, and means carried by the bars for engaging certain of the beads for maintaining the closures in closed or partly closed position.
8. A box of the class described comprising a pair of sections, each section consisting of top, bottom and back, t-he top and bottom of each section having beads defining grooves, the beads being adapted to slidably interlock when the sections are telescopically connected, rollers carried by the sections, flexible clo eures carried by the rollers, bars carried by the tree ends of the closures, and latch bars carried by said bars for interlocking engagement with certain of the beads.
