Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,819, dated February 1, 1876; application filed October 14, 1875.

Referring to the drawing accompanying this specificationwhich is an elevated View of my improved tool- A is a round rod of steel, which forms the tool proper. The lower end a of this rod is formed into a sharp point having three or more sides, d d.
B is a head orbutton placed on end a of the rod.
The indentures, called veins, are formed upon the wax-leaf by the aid .of my tool, by placing the sharp edge of the sides (1 upon the wax-leaf, and gently pressing it down and rolling the tool over theleaf until a number of V-shaped indentures are formed.
