IMPROVEMENT m FARM-FENCES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,786, dated January 25, 1876 application filed January 3, 1876.

A represents the posts, which may be se-' cured to the ground in any suitable manner, and through each post is. bored a series'of transversed openings, a, equal in number to the number of rails B to be secured.
Through each opening (it extends a double wire, the ends of which are twisted, or otherwise secured together, the wire being bent so as to form on opposite sides of the post loops b b for the ends of the rails B, as shown in the drawing.
While the rails are secured firmly to the posts by the loops, the latter being each attached to the post at one point, and turning thereat, in no way interfere with the adjustment of the rails, as may be required in order to adapt the fence to the varyingsurface of the. ground; thus the rails 'on one side of a post may be inclined downward or upward at ent manner to the posts.
It will be seen that the posts may be driven, should they become loosened, without impairing or loosening the fastenings, and that they may even be displaced without the rails becoming detached; but that the, rails may be easily removed and replaced when necessary.
