This invention relates to carriers, but more particularly to carriers for cripples to enablethemto conveniently carry articles from place to place, and an object of this invention isto provide a. simple and efiiclent carrier for-cripples which can be easily attached to the body, is comfortable, easlly adjusted to the particular person, and may be so manipulated as to eliminate 1nt erference when walking up and down sta rs. Another object is to provide a new and 1mproved carrier having the features of construction, arrangement and operatlon hereinafter described.

The illustrated embodiment of the invention comprises a table 1 which may consist of a plurality of slats from which depends a pair of legs 2 having telescoping engagement with tubular supports 3, set screws 4 being provided for holding the legs in adjusted position. Suitably connected to the table 1 is a shoulder strap 5 in order to support the carrier when being carried up or down stairs.

The table is flexibly attached to the waist of the wearer, and for this purpose a belt 6 encircles the waist of the wearer and is provided with a segmental band 7 at the rear portion thereof. The band is formed with an outturned end portion 8, to which is pivoted a. depending rod 9. The rod 9 is pivoted to the table 1. The opposite end of the table is connected to the belt 6 by a rod 10 which is pivoted to the table and a strap 11 connecting the belt 6 to a hook 12 adjustable on the rod 10 in holes 13. Similar holes 14 are provided in rod 9 to permit of vertical adjustment of the rod. It will thus be seen that the height of the table 1 may be readily and conveniently adjusted in accordance with the heightof the wearer. The connec-v tion is such as to allow forfreedQm of,n1ovement so as to permitgthe freestpossible movementto the person.

The latch 22 may be of any suitable construction, but preferably of the spring type to snap into engagement and remain so engaged until the latch is moved to disengagement.

Connected to the end portion of the latch 22 is a chain 24, the outer end of which is arranged conveniently to the table 1 so that the wearer may readily grasp the same, a suitable catch 25 being provided beneath the table to hold the end of the chain. In order to move the casters 21 away from supporting position, the chain 24 is pulled to swing the plate 19 outwardly away from the mounting 18, and the parts are held in this position by engaging the chain 24 with the table 1. Upon releasing the chain 24 the plate of the bars are bolts 17which'connect1the Connected to-the lower. ends ofthe tubular 19 swings by gravity until the latch 22 snaps into latching engagement with the mounting 18.

While I have shown and described a construction which is the best form known to me, it is to be understood that numerous changes in details of construction, arrangement and operation may be ellected without departing from the spirit of the invention, especially as defined in the appended claims.

l/Vhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A carrier of the class described comprising a table, a standard for said table, a belt for attachment to a wearer, a vertically disposed rod pivoted to said table, and a strap connecting said rod and belt for holding the table to the wearers body.

2. A carrier of the class described comprising a table, a standard for said table, a belt for attachment to a wearer, a pair of vertical rods pivoted to said table, a strap connecting one of said rods and belt, and a pivotal connection between the other rod and belt, the connection betweensaid rods and strap and belt being adjustable to vary the vertical position of the table.

3. A carrier of the class described comprising a table, a support depending from said table, means to flexibly hold said table to the waist of a wearer, a roller mounting hingedly connected to the lower portion of said support, and means to swing said roller mounting away from supporting position.

4. A carrier of the class described comprising a table, a vertically adjustable support depending from said table, means for flexibly holding said table to the waist of a wearer, a hip pad vertical to the table,

means to attach said pad to said table, a roller mounting for said support, and means to hingedly connect said mounting to said support, said mounting being movable away from supporting position to permit the carrier to be supported solely by the wearer.

5. A carrier of the class described comprising a table, means toconnect said table to the waist of a wearer, a hip pad vertical to the table and adjacent thereto, a support depending from the table, a mounting pivoted for vertical swinging movement to the lower end of said support, rollers on said mounting, a latch for holding said mounting in supporting position, and means to release said latch and swing said mounting away from supporting position.

6. A carrier of the class described comprising a table, means for flexibly connecting said table to a wearers waist, a hip pad for holding the table from engagement with the wearer, a shoulder strap for said table, a support depending from the table, a mounting having casters hinged for vertical swinging movements to the lower end of said support, a latch for holding said mounting in supporting position, and means to release said latch and move said mounting away irom supporting position.
