This invention relates toa pump cylinder-- and a mount or support therefor, whereby a pump suitable for pumping hot fluids, and more particularly hot petroleum through the 5. cracking coils, stills, etc. of a cracking plant,

interfering with the eflic'ient operation of the pump and increasing its power requirement, also the wear upon the packing injthe stuffing boxes.
It is the object, therefore, of this invention to supply a pump cylinfier and a mount or support therefor of such character of construction and assembly that the walls of said cylinder Will be free to expand radially, with "respect to the axis of the bore of the cylinder, in all directions, in such manner that said longitudinal axis'of said bore will always remain a neutral point uneffected by expansion or d ontraction ;.also that the longitudinal expansion and contraction of the 40 pump cylinder may take place without in any way distorting or straining any portion of the pump organization.
In the accompanying drawings, I have illustrated one form of construction in which my inventive idea is mechanically embodied and has been found to be perfect in actual operation.

The combination of a pump cylinder and a mount therefor constructed and assembled together'in' such manner that the axial line of the bore of said cylinder maintains a' neutral position when,'owing to the heat of eler expand and contract, said construction and assembly comprising a longitudinally extending, outwardly projecting ledge carried 'upon each side of said cylinder with a downwardly disposed seating, cylinder supporting face, which faces are in lateral al'inement in the same horizontal plane with the axis of the bore of said cylinder, and asupporting structure for said cylinder comprising supporting members whereupon said supporting faces seat respectivelyso as to support fsaid cylinder in said manner.

In a pump for hot liquids, the combination of a block provided with a'cylinder bore and with longitudinally extending ledges one on'each side thereof, said-ledges being integral with said blockand having each a downwardly disposed seating face, which faces areJin the same horizontal plane with the axis of said cylinder bore, and a supporting structure having corresponding upwardly disposed seating faces, thus forming a mount whereon said block is free to expand radially ,in all directions from the longitudinalaxis of said bore while said axis remains. a neutral point. w
