TENT PIN.

This invention has reference to tent pins or stakes, and aims to provide novel means whereby the lower edge of the side wall of a tent may be held into close engagement surface on which the tent is positioned.

important object of the invention is the provision of a tent pin which will ermit of an adjustment of the side wall of the tent regardless of the distance that the tent secured view, which will appear as the pin is driven into the ground surface.

Another object of the invention is to provide a tent pin including a plurality of vertically spaced hooks to be engaged by rings to the lowervedge of the tent wall, the hooks being so disposed that they will not retard movement of the pin as it is being driven into the ground surface.

With the foregoing and other objects in description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing:

Figure l is an elevational view illustrating a tent wall as connected with a tent pin constructed in accordance with the invention.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the pin includes an elongated body portion indicated generally by the reference character 5, the body portion having a pointed extremity 6 and a head 7 which may be struck by the tool used in driving the pin into the ground surface.

The body portion includes a central web 8 which is formed with a plurality of substantionally U-shaped cut out portions 9 that define downwardly extended tongues 10, for purposes to be hereinafter more fully described.

respectively, which flanges extend appreciable distances beyond the web 8, as clearly shown by Figure 4 of the drawing, so that the tongues 10 will be guarded by the flanges to the end that they will not offer resistance while the pin is being driven into the ground surface.

Associated with the pin, is a ring 13 which is secured at the lower edge of the side wall of the tent, the ring being designed to fit over one of the tongues 10 of the pin to hold the side wall down.

It might be further stated templated to use hooks such as indicated at 14, at the upper edge of the side wall of the tent structure, which in the present showing is indicated by the reference character A, the

ooks being positioned over the pole 15 of the tent frame which is supported adjacent to the top of the tent.

It will of course be understood that tent pins such as described, are used along the lower edge of the tent wall, the number of pins being regulated by the size of the tent.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that due to this construction a tent pin may be readily driven into the ground surface and the rings or eyes that cooperate with the tongues of the pin, may be readily slipped over a tongue to hold the wall of the tent snugly to the ground surface.

A tent pin including an elongated body portion having a central web portion, said web portion having cut out portions defining tongues, spaced ribs extending from opposite sides of the body portion and disposed along the side edges of the body portion to guard the tongues, and said tongues adapted to accommodate tent rings secured to a wall of a tent.

2. A tent pin including an elongated body portion, tongues extending from the body portion and adapted to receive tent rings secured to the side Wall of a tent structure, and ribs extending laterally from the body portion to guard the tongues when the pin is driven into the ground surface.
