Description

Aug. 6, 1929. T. H. HART 1,723,547
DEVICE FOR EJECTING BALLS FROM THE HOLES USED IN BALL PUTTING GAMES Filed Aug. 6, 1928 Patented Aug. 6, 1929.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DEVICE FOR EJECTING BALLS FROM THE HOLES USED IN BALL-PUTTING GAMES.
This invention relates to ball putting); and similar gaines, as played for example on lan/'nel or a course oit putt-innv greens, in clock golf, and the like, in which the ball in played into slinken pots or equivalent recinitaelen.
The object of the invention is to facilitate the extraction ot balle from euch pots or receptacles.
The invention coinprinee the combination with the ball receivingl pot or receptacle oit a pivoted base adapted to be operatwl bythe putting club, a walking stick, or otherwise, for ejecting the ball, without the stoopinp; involved in the ordinary withdrawal by hand.
In the accompanying sheet ot explanatory drawings t- Figure l is a sectional view, Figure Q a plan and Figure 3 an inverted plan, oi.l :i putting pot constructed 'in nordanre with this invention Yfor use in gell? practice, or clock goli. or other like galnee.
In applying, the invention as Sho wn in con nection with the putting pots or like ball re-` ceptacles to be sunk in a lawn or elsewhere (as indicated by e, Figure l) tor rolt ball putting', there is pivotally nioilnted within each ot' the tubular metal body partey l5, ordinarily employed to torni puttingpote. a dien like or other suitably shaped hase piece c forming a platform or support for the hall. The Said plat-forni is so Shaped and arriinp'i-id relatively to ite pivotal connection with the pot, that when the bell rolls into the letter the base is tilted and the ball as Z ln'ougijhlI to rest at the lower side ol' saine. In the exann ple Shown in the drawings, the base is :it
tached to n, diametrically arranged pivot spindle e. The dotted lines show the base tilted by the ball l which ie also shown in dotted lines. The extent to which the baee can rock in either direction under the weight of the ball is limited by, for example, a cross piece f which serves as a support for the balie.
Application led August 6, 1928, Serial No. 297,771, and in Great Britain August 12, 1927.
Incidentally this cross piece has its terminal portions` tlauged and secured to the inner wall ot the remzliitaele so as to lic flush with the lower edge otl the receptacle and thereby nerve as; a ineane 'tor rein'lorcing' the receptacle. i'
'.lo eject the ball it is only neceeeary sharply to depress the upper leide ot the inclined base, `by means of the putting club or "by a walking;l` stiel; or othemvise, causing a correspondingr Sharp riiie ot the lower eide ot the pl a irln, the ball beingl thereby thrown upward clear of the pot.
The ejecting;- device unt-y be ulried in `torni and conStructional details to meet varying eervices or requirements. Aliso if desired a hole may be toi-ined in n, convenient position in the bane c to permit the ineertion into the ground ot the usual flag); poet.
Having thus; described my Vinvention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. In devices for ejer-ting' balle from the holes used in ball putting gaines, the combination with a ball receiving receptacle, ot a basic pivoted transversely ot the receptacle and adapted to rock in either direction, and common means t'or limiting' the rocking movement ot the base and tor reinforcing the receptacle. i
Q. In devices; for ejecting;l balle from the holes need in ball putting gamee, the combination 'o1nprienuiI a hollow cylindrical body open at both ends, a, base pivoted on a diametrical axis Substantially midway the height ot the body.` and n transverse eupport pro-- vided aci-ose the interior of the body beneath the bane so ne to limit the rocking' inovi-unent of the baste in. both directions and to reinforce the body, sul'istantizill-y as described.
In te, imony whereof I have sigrucd my naine to this Specification.
THOMAS HASSA'LL HART.
