' Figure v2 is a section taken en the line 242 of Figure 1,' the view'being enlarged-'te lshow vin detail'thefp'osition of 'theroll'held in`jthe receptacle." Figure 3 is a section. taken on the line 3 4-3 of Figurel and shows in lvelevation the .roll holding "arrangement'within theE receptacle. the illustration being', reduced in lengthlfr 'purposesof convenience in illustration Figure 4; is 'anenlarged fragmentary ,detail view of y.the rear'side of the cover showing the spring pressed closure member and the 'method of operating the saine.. Fi ure 5 sectional edge ,view of the of paper being shown ifits'drawn out posividedl withfa rolled flipper edge which, 1s
inechanisni shown in 'liguret and shows `how paperholding `i Referring to the drawings in detail,5 indicates the paperholding'receptacle which is ofthe usual box construction, the top thereof being vprovided with vopenings' vhaving extended portions y7, so 'that the receptacle can' beV positioned beneath aeounterland through the medium of screws may be detach? ably secured to the4 c oL u`1 t er. .The Ifrontof the receptacle 5 is provided 1withfan opening, bounded 'on the upper. edge byl a beadjS and on thelower'edgebyan upstanding iiangeor lower portion 9, the'opening being arranged to' receive 'a door 10, the lower half 'of which is bent to extend inwardly at an l'angle from the vertical. the door orclosure'atthebob torn thereof beingbent upon itself as at 11 to form an inwardlyextending.'flange, the outer extension thereof' providing an eX- tended flange 12 which acts as a paper tearing edge, the flanges 11 Yand l2 forming a single paperholding iiangeor foot lwhich extends entirely'across the'door 10 and is adapted to rest upon a flange lformed on the upper end ofthe lower'por'tion' of the front wall 9 iof the receptacle This flange 13 is formed ys nnilar tothepaperI holding'fiange andais :arranged to provide'w'hat might be; called 'apaperholding `shelf lover .which the paper slides wh cn the same is drawn from v.the roll.
'It will be noted `that the cover 10I proadapted to receive at its ends the headed pins 14; .which pass through suitable elongated lopenings M-Ain the side walls ofthe cabinet to). thereby allow pla-y of the doo'r 10 'vertically and this plavis sufficient to 'allow Vthe door to. rest upon the paper holding shelf 13 so that a friction drag is created when the Ipaper is drawnffrom the roll, due tothe 'weightof the door.' the paper holding 'ange 1 2iis cut out as at 15 at its center' to provide a: space wherethe edge of the paper rnay be gripped by thetingers preparatory to'drawing the same from the roll and in order that .a single cuttngedge maybe presentedwhen a yiel ble filler piece 16 .fwhieh is `slidalaly mounted onffthe iiang'e 12 and is guided at its side edges by the guide'pieees 17 whichH are suitably secured to the flange 12 or' may be formed by bending the material up out of the iiange 12. These guides overlie theedge of the cutter piece 16 and allow its free sliding movement forwardly andv rearwardly to uncover that portion of thev paperlying in the openinglvlz of' the flanges l2 an' asit is' of' course understood that .the` lower flange 13j'will also be cut out to coincide with the out out portion ol. the flange 12 sothat thepaper disposed therein may be gripped prparatory to drawing the same from the ro In order to normally maintainthe cutter piece 16in its extended posi-tion, Ihavefprovided apiece ci spring steel 17 which is secured to the rear fase oi' the cover 10 through the medium ot tongues 18-A` punched there gaging the upturned out of, the lowerl end of the springl' enflange 18 at the rear of the cutterpiece, a similar flange .19 being lorme'd'a't the front thereof. so thatthe cutter piece can be manipulated with, thethumh when it isdesiredto push. the same rearwardly: against the action ofthe springA 17 iso/.grip
the paperpositioned in the opening 151 In order to Vnormally retain the cover l() closed?, I provide at each end thereof, ai notch'20` and on the end corners of the lower flange l I provide an upturned catch 21 which has been punchedy out of the material ofthezi'lanae and bent up to provide aeatch over. which the ilange. l2 will ride until the notch 2D therein rides over. vthe edge oit'` the catch 21 and allows the flange 12 to rest on llange13 at which time the flange 12 will underlie. the catch 21 due to the normalv tendency of the. door 10 to vhang-in vertical position and it. will he evident that any drawing on the ypaper will not cause the. door` 10. to open and the. door y will junction as. a drag. on the `papeitgto allow the sameto bedrawn oli evenlv from the. roll-anfdio alsohold Iit when. it is, to he termasl it `isimderstood.that Whenthel cntter niece 16 is. in its extended position -as shown Figures 1,. 2 and 5, a continuous cutting edge will be presented whenthe paper is to -betorni'and the paper can beftorn cleanly along its width. .It desired the bottom ol. the receptacle, may be used to house a drawerQS which slides lon the ridges: 29 formed in. the receptacle sides and, bottom, the drawer heingprovided withtheusual handle whereby it` can: be' readily opened and closed, the `ridges 29 reducing the frictonal resistance to aminimum. n y
l In order ,to properly lsupport the roll withinthereeeptale, I have provided flange-like .brackets 22 formedto provide depressions 23 Ifurthe reception oi the flattened ends 24 of a tube 25, the latter of which is arranged roll, it
to support at its ends, the roll holding spools 2 npon'whioh the roll oifpapeizgorother material 2? is suspended. *In ordentoffacilitate the drawing oil' of the paper from the is essential that the wooden spools revolve on the metallic tube 25 and in {lattening theends thereof and positioning them in the depression 23 of the brackets 22, rotation of the tubeis' prevented and the free drawngei of the paper can be accomplished. The. outer ends of. the. brackets 22 -act as a stop to limit the inward swinging movement ot the door'lO. whenthe same isfclosed.
It is quite evident, i provided ampaper -roll holding, receptacle which presents many advantages overV the old' -iorm of roll holder, and it will be especally evident that I have provided a paper holding drag` and holds the paper securely while the same is heing term y L It is also evident .that I have provided a construction which may be: made oi sheet theretor e, v that'l have device, the-,oovenofwhich acts4 as a .l
metal, which has .ew parts, which will not get out of order readily, and vwhich may be replenishedwitha roll of,` aper without. inconvenience or disarrangenient of thelparts'. Of. .course it is quite evident that. two or morerolls. of 4paper oiffcliiierent width can he supported in the receptacle on the. same bar .which would necessitate the` placingat the. proper position of twoor more cutter pieces orgripper pieces, as theymight be termed and `it is; quite, evident thatpaper might be drawnoiifrom either one of a variety of rolls used in a receptacle`V It is also evident that I haveprovided a container vfor. wrappingzpaper orother paper whichis sanitary, presents a better appear.- ance. and Iwhich. will allow gripping of the paper quekerand easier and where various colored paperr'ollsof different widths are used, will allowtthesame to. be drawn .individually, and.: the-,receptacle also by reason of thedoor construetion. will accommodate rolls of paper of maximum diameter.y
Whilelhave illustrated and described. -my invention. with some degree lof .particnlarity, I realize that` in practice various alterations therein may be made. I thereiore reservethe right and. privilege of, changing' the .form of thea details oieonstructionior otherwise. alteriner the arrangement-of the. correlated parts without departing from ventionorithe scope ot the appended claims.
