FINISH-STRIP asslmnmn application mea august 15,1927. smal no. 213,081.
This invention relates toa finish strip assembly and more particularly to a combined finish strip and drip rail having means for securing a trimming material in place.
The several objects, advantages and novel details of construction of this invention will be made more apparent as this description proceeds, especially when considered 1n connection with the accompanying drawlngs 10 wherein:
ence character 11- indicates trimming material which extends over the face of the support 10 and is adapted to be secured thereto 1n a manner to be described more fully hereinafter. 1
One face of the support .10 is reced longitudinall thereof as indicated at 12.
Secured to t e recessed face of the support 10 is a face plate 13 provided with a depression forming arecess 14 which fits in the recess 12 formed in the support 10. The
A trimming material 11 overlies this face plate 13 and extends down into the recess 14. The Aprovision of the recess 14 provides a shoulder 15 over which the trlmming material extends.
Secured within the recess 14 is an .anchor- `ao'agefstrip 16 developed from a. singlestrip .of material and bent to form support engaging portions 17 and axn angularly extending lip or projection 18.4 The anchorage strip is apertured at suitable intervals throughout tionof securin elements 19 which pass t erethrough an into the support 10. When the anchorage strip is secured 1n place the lip or projection 18'is opposed tov. C the shoulder 15 ofthe rece 14 and c0- operates therewith to vip the trimming material therebetween. hus the trimming 4material may bebrought downwardly over `the'su port 10 so as to overlie the recess 14 and w tween the shoulder 15 and -lent of the which the extension ori flange'lS of the antrated and described herein somewhat in deen thereafter the anchorage strip 1,6
is secured -within the recess the trimming material' willbe stretched by being forced int-o the recess 14 and will be gripped bethe flange or projection 18 of the'anchorage strip. 6o
The reference character'QO indicates generally a molding strip which is developed from a single strip of material the intermediate portion of which is bent upon itself as indicated at 21 to provide a double wall thickness which is shaped to form a drip 'trough 22. vThe edges of the molding strip are bent to form opposed inwardly extending open return-bent portions 23 which are adapted and capable of snap engagement with the edges of the anchorage strip 16. The molding strip 20 is snapped into engagement with Athe anchorage strip by pressing the molding strip thereagainst whereupon the return-bentedges 23 snap over the edges of the anchorage strip as will be oblWhile the facing plate 13 has been illustrated and described for. use in connection with the support 10 and while this construction is found to be satisfactory and `eilicient' in actual use, nevertheless, it will be immediately obvious that -thefuse of this plate 13 is not absolutely essential. Furthermore it is not always necessary to locate the anclorage strip 16 in a'recess either in the support 10 or'in the facing plate 1 3. On the other hand, it is important only that the equivashoulder 15 be provided l with chorage strip may cooperate. g
- As a consequence, while one s ciic embodiment-of the invention has illustail 'it will be readily apparent to those 95- skilled in this art-'that various changes in the details of .construction herein illustrated "maybe made' -without departing-from the spirit and scope of thisinvention and to this end reservation i's made'to make Asuch changes as may come within the purview of the accolvnlanyin claims.
