INCUBATOR ALARM Filed April 2 ,1924
Ernas't 61 P278072 INVENTOR WITNESS: ATTORNEY Patented July 2, 1929.
UNITED STATES ERNEST G. FARSON, OF GBEENCASTLE, MISSOURI.
INCUBATOR ALARM.
Application filed April 2, 1924. Serial No; 703,761.
The object of this invention is the provision of means for sounding an alarm when the temperature of a setting incubator reaches a higher or lower point than is desired.
The invention further consists in the construction, combination and operative associa tion of parts such as is disclosed by the drawings which accompany and which form part of this application.
In the drawings 1 Figure 1 is a sectional view showing the improvement applied on the top of the incubator.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the circuit maker.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the spring.
Figure 4 is a similarview of the bracket to which the arm of the circuit maker is pivoted;
In the drawings the circuit maker is arranged on the top of the incubator. A diaphragm 21 within the incubating chamber 22 influences a rod 23 that is adjustably connected to a rod 24. The rod 24 is pivotally,
secured in a bracket 25 and has its outer end loosely connected to the damper 26 of the heater 27 for the incubator chamber. On the top of the incubator chamber there is a second forked bracket 28 between which there is received and to which there is pivoted an arm 29. The arm is pivoted adjacent, to one of its ends, the end of the arm nearest the pivot having arranged therethrough a screw 30 that contacts with the inner end of the rod .24. On the outer end of the arm 29 there is a forked circuit maker, the arms of which are indicated by the numerals 31 and 32 respectively. ;Normally arranged centrally between the forked arms of the circuit maker there is a contact member 33. This member iswired to a bell 34 in whose circuit there is an electricbattery 35, the second wire of the circuit being connected to the circuit maker or to one of the bolts that attach the circuit maker to the arm 27. v
Secured on thetop of the incubator ther is the straight end of .an arched spring 36, the
' 27 to bring the element 31 of the circuit maker to engage the contact 33 and again sound the alarm.
Having described the invention, I claim A circuit closure of the temperature controlled type, comprising a casing having a chamber therein, a stationary contact mount ed upon the casing and having a laterally extended upper end, a bracket on the casing, an.
arm pivoted intermediate its ends on the.
bracket and terminating at one end in a fork straddling the laterally extended end of the stationary contact and adapted to engage therewith, a leaf spring mounted on the casmg and engaglng against the under slde of 7 said arm for normally holding it in neutral position with said fork out of engagement with said stationary contact, a combined support and guide mounted on the casing, a lever pivoted intermediate its ends on said support and guide, an adjusting screw passing through one end of the arm and engaging said lever, a depending member carried by said combined support and guide, said depending member being of tubular form, expansible wafers located within said chamber, and a rod connected with the wafers and slidable through said depending member and connect ed with the lever near its pivot for moving the lever in accordance with temperature variations in the chamber.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ERNEST c. mason.
