BELT.
Application iied April 3D, 1928. Serial No. 274,025.
The invention relates to belts for apparel and has reference more particularly to those embodying a plurality of separate links of leather or other" iiexible material, and a buckle-engaging strap or billet.
It is the principal object oi' the invention to provide a new and improved means for detachably connecting the billet with one of the endmost links ot the belt, in such a m`anner that it may be readily removed, permit ting the length of the belt to be varied as occasion may demand, by removing links or by adding them.
`With the foregoing in view, the' invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, description being accomplished by reference to the accompanying drawing. l

In the'drawings above brieily described, E and IC denote the end portions oi a belt :formed primarily ot a plurality of `iiexible links L, the end E being provided with an appropriate buckle B, while the end lil is equipped with a buckle-engaging strap or billet S, detachably connected therewith in a unique manner. The links L are slotted at their ends, and the intermediate portion of each link passes through the slots ot the next adjacent link in a known manner. For purposes of future reference herein, one of the endmost links of `the belt end E is distinctly designated L', and its slots are denoted at L.
Positioned between the slotted ends of the link L', is an enlarged end S ol' the` strap said end being formed with a slot 9 alined with the slots L. Passingthrough all of these slots is a strap-anchoringlink l() whose end portions are formed with slots 1l-1l, respectively, ,through which the strap S passes. One Vend portion of the link 10 link 10 is of course iieXible, and relation ot' its end portions with the strap S, insures that both terminals 12-12 shall lie flatly against said strap` as shown most clearly in Fig. 8.
lVhen the strap S is to be detached from the remainder ot' the belt, it is withdrawn from the collar 13 and then from the slots ll-ll, as will be clear from Figs. 4L and 5 of the drawings. Then, the link l0 is free to be withdrawn from the ,slots L, by pulling it in the direction of the arrow of Fig. 5. I-Ience, the strap S is disconnected from the link L and the latter and others if desired, may be disconnected from the remainder of the belt, or other similar links may be connected with said link L. Thus, the length of the belt may be varied as occasion may demand, and then to the endmost link, the billet or strap S may again be connected by use of the strap-anchoring link l0. It will thus be seen that I have provided a very simple, yet advantageous means for connecting the strap or billet S with the adjacent portion of the belt, and it is the construction and relation of parts forming this connection, which constitutes the present invention. lilhile excellent results have been obtained from the exact details disclosed, it will be obvious that minor variations may be made within the scope of the invention as claimed.

In a belt embodying inter-engaged links, each terminating in two tabs having slots, a buckle-engaging strap having one end disposed between the two tabs of one of the endmost of said links, said strap end having a slot alined with those of said two tabs, and a strap-anchoring link passing through said alined slots, the ends of said strap-anchoring link having slots through which said strap said one end land surrounding said strap,-
whereby both terminals oiE said simil anchoring link are held flatly against the strap.
