The brush provided with separate portions 5), 10, 11. The portions 9 and 11 are supporting stems, and the portion 10, which carries bristles as shown, is located intermediate the portion 9 and 10, and is bent or formed into a loop, of ring-like form, which encircles the nozzle 6.

The pmrtions 9 and 10 are each provided with a hook-end 14, the hook-ends being located in channels 13, for the purpose.

it will he noted that with the parts in position, as indicated in the drawing, the nozzle 6 extends upwardly past practically all'portions of the brush, the portion 10 being bent around the nozzle, and spaced therefrom.

The portion 10 of the brush, formed into a loop as slmwn, enables the bristles to proect not only upwardly but in practically all. other directions in which they are required to project, in order to effectively reach all portions of the inner surface 0'1 the bottle. to be washed.

During the operation of the machine, with my improved brush mounted in position as shown in the drawing and as above described, abottle is mounted in a frame, the bottom of the bottle being uppermost. The spindle carrying the brush is next thrust upwardly through. the neck of the bottle, to a limit at which the uppermost bristles of the brush are pressed against the bottom, and also against the concave inner surface bounding; the bottom, of the bottle. d

Then as the spindle is rotated and water is supplied through the central passage 5 and through the nozzle 6, this water is spouted hard against the bottom of the bottle, (now uppermost), which is at the same time bii'ushed or scrubbed vigorously by the bristles.

It will be noted that the nozzle projects up wardly through and past the bristly portion of the brush, and discharges the water in close proximity to the bottom of the bottle; and that the brisles immediately adjacent the poi at where the water is directed. as well as at points remote from this point of delivery, can easily reach the inner surface of the bottle.

The formation of the port-ion 6 into the pronimate shape of a ring; has more than one advantage. First, it so distributes the bris tle portion of the brush that there are bristles on every side of the nozzle; and second, the ring-like form of this portion 10 enables the nozzle to be centered within it.

I do not limit myself to the precise mocha nism shown as variations may be made therein, without departing from my invention, the scope of which is commensurate with my claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows:

1. A device of the character described, comprising a spindle provided with a water passage, a brush mounting carried by said spindle and provided With a nozzle'for discharging Water from said Water passage, said brush mounting'being further provided with channels, and a Wire brush provided with stems extending into said channels for the purpose of supporting said brush upon said brush holder, a portion of said brush intermediate said first mentioned portions being formed into a loop of substantially circular form.

2. A device of the character described,

' comprising a spindle provided with a Water passage, a brush mountingcarried by said spindle and provided With a nozzle communicating with saidwater passage for the purpose of discharging Water, and a brush carried by said brush mounting and provided with a portion formed into a loop encircling said nozzle.

3. A device of the character described,

comprising a spindle provided with a Water passage, .a brush mounting carried by said spindle, a nozzle supported upon said brush wire brush having a portion carrying mounting and communicating with said water passage in order to discharge water therefrom, said nozzle having the form of a tube, and a wire brush connected with said brush mounting and carried thereb said llristles and bent to encircle said nozzle.

4 A device of the character described, comprising a spindle provided with a water passage, a nozzle carried by said spindle and communicating with said water passage, said nozzle extending from said spindle in order to discharge Water, a brush holder carried by said spindle and disposed adjacent said nozzle, and a wire brush provided with a plurality of stems connected with said brush hold- HENRY GEORGE VOLCKENING.
