Description
June 11, 1929. E. A. cARLsoN BAG HOLDER Filed Nov. 15 27 Patented June 11, 1929.
PATENT OFFICE.
ENOCK A. CARLSON, OF DELVALLE, TEXAS.
BAG HOLDER.
Application filed November 15, 1927. Serial No. 233,478.
This invention relates to store appliances and more particularly to an article for supporting a bobbin of cord and bundles of paper bags in compact and accessible form.
The present invention relates more particularly to the bag holder which comprises sections, each of the sections consisting of a metal strap bent to provide a plurality of spaced loops and depending retainer loops for confining the heads of the bag sustaining pins.
F or a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof reference is to be had to the following description and the drawings hereto attached.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a i'ront view of a combined bag and twine holder embodying the invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged detail view in perspective of a section comprising the bag holder.
The numeral 1 designates a bar which provides supporting means for the twine holders and the bag holder, and it may be of any length, width and thickness. A twine holder is mounted upon each end of the bar 1 and the bag holder is attached to the under side 01 the bar. The twine holders are of similar formation, each including a standard 2, an overhanging bar 3, a loop 4 for receiving the bobbin of twine or cord 5, and a take-up lever 6 pivoted to the standard 2. Each of the twine holders has the suspending means applied directly to a metal strap 7 which is attached to the standard 2 and receives the pivot of the take-up lever 6. The twine or cord 8 passes upwardly through an opening formed in the bar 3, thence through openings formed in the strap 7 and again through a pair of openings formed in the outer portion of the bar 3 and upwardly through an opening in the forward end of the take-up lever 6, thence downwardly through an opening in the outer end of the bar 3 and through an opening formed in an extension of the lower member of the frame which is attached directly to the supporting bar 1.
number of sections, each of the sections being formed from a metal strap whlch is The bag holder preferably consists of a bent to provide a plurality of spaced loops and depending retainer loops. The metal strap is designated by the numeral 10. The main loops are designated by the numeral 11 and the retainer loops by the numeral 12. The side member 13 of each of the main loops 11 is common to both of the loops 11 and 12 and is formed with a return slot 14 opening outwardly through a vertical edge of the member. he member 15 of each of the main loops is formed with an opening 16 and is of a less length than the member 13. The retainer loops 12 are narrow. A pin 17 has its pointed end sup ported in the opening 15 of a loop 11 and its head 18 received in the loop 12 of the adjacent loop. The pin 17 is thrust through a bunch of bags, as indicated by the dotted lines in Figure 1, and normally occupies a position inclined to the horizontal, the head of the pin passing through the slot 1 1- and confined in the space formed between the members of the retainer loop 12. This pin may consist of an ordinary wire nail and is of a length to engage the members 13 and 15 of adjacent loops.
Having thus described the invention, I claim:
A bag holder consisting of a metal strap having portions bent laterally in the same direction and extending to unequal distances to form a main loop, a short member having a return slot formed therein, said strap having end portions further bent to provide similar return loops including a long member and a short member, the long member of one return loop being common to and coinciding with the long member of the main loop, and the long member of the other return loop having a return slot formed therein and offset from the short member of the main loop by an intermediate portion which connects the two adjacent short members, the terminal portions of the strap extending in opposite directions to provide attaching elements, and a bag suspending pin having its point received in the opening and its head in the return slot of the side members of the main loop.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signa ture.
