This invention'relates to a combined/tubing hanger and slip operating means, and more particularly to an oil well appliance of the character specified designed to be applied toa casing head secured to the upper end of a well casing and employed in conjunction therewith in the operation'of pullingvor run.- ning in the tubing used in oil and gas wells.
Among the VobJects of the present invention are, toy provide a new land improved tubing hanger;'to provide a new an improved combination tubing hanger, spider and slips; to provide a simple and eiicient tubing hanger that may be readily applied to the casing head and a previously inserted string or tubing without withdrawing the tubing from the casing or well, or breaking out or unscrewing any joints; and to provide newrandimproved labor saving means associated ywith* the .hanger for positioning 'and removing the hanger slips.
Further additional objects and advantages of the present invention-will be pointed o'ut or become apparent from a cnsideration of an operativeembodiment as hereinafter described vand as shown by the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings, which illustrate an application 'of my invention:
body portion 12 having a centrally disposed tapered slip receiving bore 13 and'a detachable or removable block member 14, the latter being designed to be received in an opening 15 formed. in the body. Block 14 is designed to be entered vertically into the said qpening, and may be removed from the body by slid-ing it vertically from the opening. Body 12 is cut away, as shown at 18, and is also provided with registering openings 19 and 19a, said openings 19 and 19aL being designed to register with an opening 20 formed in the blockv 14. These openings are adapted to receive a retaining bolt'21 for locking the block 14 in the hanger body. 22-designates an adjustable nut interiorly threaded at 23 to engage a threaded portion 24 of the bolt 21, said nut 22 being provided with alined openings 22a to receive a jtool, not shown, employed for turning thenut.

In the drawings, I have shown-only two tubing engaging slips 35, but more than two slips maybe employed and, if desired, the slipsljnay be connected in pairs. Each slip is serrated and is formed with a neck or handle portion 36 having an opening 37 therein'designedto receive an end .of a connecting member 38 depending from the said operating levers 31.

What I claim is: y

In anoil well appliance of the character described, a tubing hanger having a tapered bore, a slip removably mounted in the bore, means detachably connected to the upper end of the tubinghanger for moving thev slip into and outjof operative position, said means including a support member extendf ing upwardly and outwardly from the uD- per end of the tubing hanger, a bent operating lever pivotally and shiftably connected to the support member, and a depending slip connecting member carried by the lever and connected to the slip.

In an oil well appliance of the character described, a tubing hanger having a tapered bore, slips removably mounted in the bore, means detachably connected to the upper end of the tubing hanger for moving the slips into and out of operative position, said means including a support member extending upwardly and outwardly fromthe upper end of the tubing han er, an apertured ber, a pivot pin passed through said lug, a pair of yoperating levers each pivotally connected" to the upper and outer end of the support member by the pivot pin, said levers each having a bent end portion adjacent said' lug whereby the 'ends may be shifted relatively to the lug, and depending 'slip' engaging means carried by the said levers and connected to the slips. e

In an oil well appliance of the character described, the combination with a tubing hanger having a slip receiving bore, of slip moving means detachably mounted on the hanger for moving slips into and out of operative position in the bore including a del`J tachable support, a pair of levers having* bent end portions pivotally and shiftably mounted at the'outer end of the support, a pivot pin carried by the support upon which the levers are mounted, and loosely connected'slip-engaging links de ding from the levers,'and connected to thglips.
