POWER DOUGH IVIIXER.
Application ined 'september 7,1928. serial No. 304,550.
This invention relates to mixing devices A further obj ect. of the invention resides inL the provision of a. sifting apparatus carried within the top of the container and operable' in conjunction with the agitating apparatus whereby the contents of the container while being lrneaded will mix the necessary ingredients therewith through the sifter.
With the above and other objects .in`view, the invention further consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the acconipanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view taken through the invention.
Figure 2 is a horizon tal sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings in det-ail, wherein like characters of reference denote core responding parts, the reference character 10 indicates generally a container having inner and outer spaced walls 11 and 12 respectively. Insulating material, such as mineral wool, asbestos or compositions, such as in dicated at 13, are packed between the wall portions 11 and 12 to insulate .the contents of the container and preserve the ten'iperature thereof.
A stub shaft 14, ournaled within a sleeve 15, vertically and centrally disposed within the bottoms of the walls 11 and 12, is adapted to dispose a rectangular-shaped extremity 16 within the bottom of thecontainer. A worm gear 17, fixed upon the lowermost end of the stub shaft 14, is adapted for meshing engagement with a worm portion 18V formed upon the armature shaft'19 of a motor 20. The latter being mounted upon the underside of the wall 12, whereas the outermost end of the armature shaft 19 therefore is journaled earner ortica within a bearing member 21, whereby proper meshing engagement ofthe worm portion 18 thereof with the worm gear 17 will be assured.' i
Standards 22, upstanding from attaching plates 23, areadapted toV receive trunnionsf2llf laterally projected from the outer sides of the wall12, whereby the Completed container may be swung `to one side or the other to dump the contents thereof or to occupy a dumping position, whereby same may be readily washed and cleansed. K 4 i A drive shaft 25, vertically disposed within the container, is providedv with anenlarged pocketportion 26within its vlowerinost end adapted to accommodate lthe rectangularshaped extremity 16 of the stub shaft y14, whereby rotation from the motor 20. Y.
The agitating apparatus y contemplates plate members or kneaders 27 and 28 respectively adapted to dispose theiuppermost ends thereof within the bifurcated portions in the extremity of a supporting rodv29.V A bearing portion 30, carried by the supporting rod 29, is adapted to receive the drive shaft 25. K The may be imparted thereto plate 27, as illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawings, -is adapted to follow the contour of the inner side wall of the inner wall 11 and ,for this reason an extension or foot'32 is v provided upo-n the lowermost end thereof,
whereby the contents of the container may be scraped from the bottom thereof. A brace rod 33, having connection at its outermost end with the plate member 27 .at the intersection of the .foot portion 32 therefor,is extended upwardly at an inclination therefrom for connection with the bearing member 34 whichis also adapted to accommodate the drive shaft- 25.
n As illustrated, the plate member 28 is vertically disposed within the container 10 and suspended from the shorter end of the rod 29 wherefore the outermost edge of the plate member `28 is spaced from the adjacent face of the wall portion 11. A connecting rod 35, having connection at its innermost end with the socket portion 26 upon the lowermost end of the drive shaft 25, is connected at its op posite end with the lowermostf-depending por-v tion of the plate member 28 whereby power may be transmitted therethrough to the plates 27 and 28 in conjunction with the drive shaft 25.
A foraminated plate 36, having an annular inverted semi-circular bead portion 37 upon the periphery thereof is ladapted to support same in the Yposition shown in Figure l of the drawings.
. The uppermost projecting end of the drive shaft is extended within a bearing member 38 centrally disposed of the foraminated plate 36 and which terminates thereabove to provide a squared shank portion 39.
An agitating element 40, proportionate in length to that of the radius of the foraminated portion of the plate 26, is provided with a socket portion 41 vert-ically disposed upon itsinnermostend and adapted to accommodatev `the squared shank 39 of the drive shaft 25. Y
A cover,A or dome 42 is adapted to dispose thek lowermost peripheral edges thereof upon the upper side of the foraminated plate 36 and lwithin the enclosure as defined Aby the bead 3.7. f
Inthe use and operation of the invention,
' the different constituents of the contemplated container is continued until the ingredients are entirely mixed and the required lightness of the dough attained.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions andminordetails of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly7 fall within the scope of the appended claim. Having Vthus described the invention, what is claimed is A dough mixer coinprising a container lia-ving a stub shaft projected within the bot-r tom thereof, a drive shaft vertically disposed within the container and having connection at its lowermost end with the stub shaft, a
supporting rod horizontally and eccentrically disposed upon the drive shaft, kneading plates suspended from the ends of the rod, a connecting rod establishing connection at an inclination between tlie drive sh-aft and one of the lneading plates, the latter mentioned kneading plate conforming in shape to the adjacent portions ofthe contour of the -side and bottom walls of thecontainer, the remaining kneading plate being spaced vfrom the side Wall and having lits lower portion shaped to engage that portion of the container bottom free of Contact with the lower portion of the first mentioned kneading' plate, and an additional connecting rod j oining the lowermost portion of the second mentioned lnieading plate with adjacent portionA of the drive shaft. p Y
