BOWLING-BALL CLEANER.
Application filed April 20, 1928.
The present invention relates to a device and detach from the runway, inexpensive to' manufacture, strong and durable, and thoroughly ellicient and reliable in use.
With the above and numerous other objects in view aswill. appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides 1n certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts wantially on the line 8-o of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a conventional bowling ball runway supported adjacent the bowlers end by uprights 5 in the usual well known manner. Bracket plates 7 are secured to 50 adjacent uprights 6 one on each side thereoi and extend up alongside the runwa 9.
nor.
Each plate is provided with a. pair of vertically a ined sleeves 9 with set screws 10 set therethrough. The frame comprises a e -shaped. body disposed a horizontal plane and having its legs mergingat their terminal to outwardly and horizontally directed extensions '1 which in turn merges into downwardly disposed extensions 12 to be received withinthe sleeves 9 and locked in place by the set screws 10. Elongated brush heads 14 are provided with eyes 15 engaged on the legs of the U-shaped'body 16 of the frame.
These heads have downwardly projecting bristles 17 of suitabl material. Obviously the brushes thus mounted may be raised or lowered and as the bowling balls pass thereby said'bowling balls will be thoroughly dusted and cleaned. It will be seen that the device is exceedingly simple and may be The plates may be attached 5 by screws 8 or in any other preferred man- 'turn merge into do ard gated brushei-s secured Serial No. 271,594.
manufactured in a strong and durable manner at a relatively low cost and may be attached to the runway without alterations after having beenattached the same is easily removed for cleaning or replacing.
It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of the invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the. features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. parent that changes in details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement Oi parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing anyot' its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
l. A device of the class described comprising a frame formed with a U-shapedbody the terminals of the legs of which merge into outwardly disposed extensions which in turn merge. into downward extensions, and elongated brushes secured to the legs of the ll-shaped bc'dy. V q
2. A device of the described c0mpris ing a frame formed with a ii-shaped body the terminals, ojflthe: legs of which merge into outwardly disposed enter 'ons which in to the legs of they U-' shaped body, each brush comprising a head with eyes thereon eceiving thlegs and bristles extending from the head.
3. A device of the class described comprising a frame formed with a U-shaped body the terminals of the legs 01"? which mergeinto outwardly disposed extensions which in turn merge into downward extensions, elongated brushes secured to the legs of the U-shaped body, a pair of plate brackets, means for securing the brackets to the sides of a bowling ball runway, the brackets being provided with sleeves to receive the last mentioned eX- tensions and set screws engaged to holdthe frame in different adjusted positions.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
WILLIAM-G. JOHNSON.
