FRIEDRICH MERE, IVIUNICH,GER1VIANY.
Application filed September 20, 1927. Serial No. 220,725.
This invention relates to sets of relays in which the relays are mounted in a row on a bar, facility of interchanging the several sets of relays in using eontact-connectmg- 5 bars for automatically producing or disconnecting the electric-connections being required. to the arrangement and construction of the contact-connection-bars. The bars must be simple, occupy little space, admit of a great number of contact-points and further ensure, in avoiding one sided pressure-action upon the set of relays, a good contact-pressure and secure contact-engagement. All
soldering and contact points must be visible and accessible in the service.
According to the invention these conditions are fulfilled by arranging the connecting bar, consisting as usual of an apparatusbar and of a frame-bar, on the rear of the set of relays, extending in the longitudinal direction of the same and carried out preferably in a double-row.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig. 1 shows the improved relay-bar in elevation.
Fig. 2 shows in side elevation the relaybar, fixed on the frame.
Fig. 3 shows in side-elevation, partly In section, acontact spring.
Fig. 4 shows in sidev elevation, partly in section, the pin of the frame on which the 5 second bar is mounted.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, T is the relaybar and R designates a number of relays fixed on said bar. The relays are arranged so that their contact-springs are situated on one side, the solder-connections of the contact-springs as well as of the relaycoils projecting at both sides of the bar T in rearward direction. The relays with the bar T form the set of relays proper.
A second bar S is fixed, according to the invention, to the bar T at a certain distance from the same and carries an apparatus-bar K on which insulated contact-pins (L1, a are mounted. The contact springsare constructed as shown in Fig. 3, as pieces of sheet-metal, bent at right angles and arranged in two rows. Each contact pin is arranged at the rear-end for contact-formation and at the other laterally projecting end (see Fig. 1) for solder-connection with The invention relates particularly contact-connection.
the relay and with any other apparatus i which might be fixed on the bar'T, for instance condensers C; With regard to the wire-connections, necessary for these purposes, the interval is provided between the apparatus fixed on the bar T or on the bar S.
The frame-bar K consists of a set of contact-springs f, arranged also in a double row. The springs are insulated and held on a bar by means of cover-plates and screws.
son the springs are further bent at the free end in inclined direction. The frame-bar with the springs and with the rod G is fixed as a whole by screws on the carrying frame of the set of relays.
The set of relays is fixed on the carrying frame by suspension on a rod D by means of a suspension bow H, adjustable rings 1*, 1' are fixed on the rod D, in order to accurately fix the suspending point. The set of relays is moved towards the rod D in inclined position, the suspension-bow H is then hooked over the rod andthe set of relays pressed towards the frameQ The contact pins of the set of relays engage between the contact-springs like knives and establish the curate engagement of the contactpins with the contact-springs at the pressing on of the set of relays, the'following special arrangement is made:
On the carrying frame pin F is fixed I and the bar S has a corresponding hole with which pin F must engage before the contact pins touch the contact-springs. A stop A on pin F limits the movement of the set of relays at the pressing on. A blade-spring B gripping around the bar S holds the set of relays, pushing upand dropping out of the set of relays being prevented by the pin F.
I claim f y 1. An interchangeable set of relays for telephone purposes, comprising in combination with a carrying frame, a bar on which the relays are fixed, a contact bar spaced from and fixed to said relay bar, contact For obtaining an ac-:
pins fixed on said contact bar a frame bar, contact bar and of the contact bar and of and contact springs on said frame bar with the contact springs of the framebar in two 10 which said contact pins come into touch rows so that the insertion of the set of when said relay bar with the relays is being relays the two rows of contact pins of the 5 suspended on the carrying frame. contact bar spread the two rows of contact 2. In an interchangeable set of relays for springs of the frame bar. telephone purposes as specified. in claim 1 In testimony whereof I affix my signature. the arrangement of the contact pins of the FRIEDRICH MERE;
