This invention relates to an attachment designed primarily for use in connection with machines used in sewing shirts and other garments utilizing facings for buttons and buttonholes. i

Heretofore it has been necessary for the operator to use one hand to properly guide the facing into the machine and control the feeding thereof while the handling of the shirt in the machine has been effected solely with the other hand.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a simple, compact and efficient attachment which can be connected either to a 1 left hand or a right hand folder and will properly guide the facing into-the folder under proper tension without requiring handling by the operator who can thus use both hands in taking care of the shirt or other garment being stitched.

Another object is to provide a device which can be adjusted easily to control the tension of the facing and which, after once being placed in position, requires practically no attention from the operator, thereby greatly" speeding up quantity production of the garments being fed to the machine.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made Within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention. 4 j

That is claimed is:

1. An attachment for folders of the class described including a guide finger for strip material fed to the folder, means for connecting said finger to a folder, and a tension finger parallel with and adjustable angularly about the guide finger. 7
