In this type of comber the detaching means and the circular comb are generally fixed in'space, i. e. the'axis of the bottom detaching roller and the axis of the circular comb retain the same position in space while the nippers are moved,as also the cop comb.
The opening and closing of the nippers are efiected during displacement of the latter and in order the better to present the lap to the detaching rollers it is necessary that in proximity to these rollers, the path of movement of the end of the lower jaw of the nipper should be of substantially the same direction as the lap, while, on the other hand, in the combing position this path should be directed tangentially to the circular comb so as not to risk damaging the needles of the circular comb in case of accidental movement of the nippers out of their proper path, this beingalways a possibility having regard to the heavy weight of the nippers in movement.
Finally, it is still necessary that this latter part of the movement towards the circular comb should be effected by the end of the upper jaw, which should then brush the points of the needles of the circular comb while the lower jaw should then press against the upper jaw to grip the lap being combed. The upper jaw of the nippers should take a particular path, of S-shape, i. e., two curves, concave and then convex downwardly terminating tangentially of or concentrically with the circular comb and only the upper jaw should effect and possess this latter tangential movement.
The present invention has for its object to obtain in a more perfect manner than in known arrangements the trajectory described by the upper nipper when passing from combing to detaching position and ,vice- 'versa.
The accompanying drawing illustrates by way of example one embodiment of the invention. This figure is a diagrammatical sectional view taken on a plane perpendicular to the circular comb. The feeding means of textile matters to the comb are not shown in the drawing, said feeding means being in no direct relation to the object of the invention.

In a comber of the class described, in combination with a revoluble combing cylinder and a pair of detaching rollers, a nipping mechanism comprising a lower arm and an upper arm pivotally connected to said lower.
