Description

May 21,, 1929. c. c. SHAW SLIDE SHOE FOR ROAD GRADERS Filed Aug. 2, 1928 Patented May 21, 1929.
NITE
CLAUDE C. SHAW, OF CAMDEN, SOUTH CAROLINA.
SLIDE SHOE FOR ROAD GRADERS.
Application filed August 2, 1928.
The object of this invention is to provide a drag shoe or runner for attachment to road graders to insure regular cutting movements of the scraper-plates, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawing- Fig. 1 is a perspective View of my improved device;
Fig. 2 is a plan View thereof;
Fig. 8 is a vertical central transverse section; and
Fig. l is a vertical central longitudinal section of the device.
Referring to the drawing annexed by reterence-characters, 5 designates the baseplate of the shoe, each of the ends 6 oi which turns or extends upwardly in an inclined direction. The bottom face of this plate is smooth and the outer faces of the turned-up ends are smooth. Projecting upwardlyi'nmi the upper face of the plate 5 is a longitudinally-extending rib or lug 7 provided with a bolt-hole 8. This shoe is adapted to be attached to a depending plate member shown in the drawing by dotted lines at 9, which plate member is the usual shoe-receiving member of the 1 ad-grading machine.
The upstanding rib 7 is adapted to be pivotally bolted flatwise against the outside of plate 9 and, of course, a similar shoe is Eerial No. 297,074.
to be arranged at the opposite side of the ding machine.
The base'plate and the upturned ends, as well as the rib 7 are all cast integral, to thus provide a rigid structure which can be attached to the grading machine without the use of brackets or other extraneous parts.
It will be observed also that the rib 7 is set some distance back from the longitudinal. side edges of the bottom plate and at one side of the center thereof, that, when the depending plate 9 of the grader is attached to the rib, it Will lie in bolt-hole, the whole being cast integral, said rib extending longitudinally of the baseplate and being set to one side of the longitudinal central line thereof, so that when the depending plate of the grading machine is attached to the rib it will. lie in the longitudinal central plane of the base-plate.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
CLAUDE C. SHAW.
