Application led January 3, 1928, Serial The principal objects of the invention are to devise a stove particularly designed for apartment heating purposes, of simple and inexpensive construction and remarkably efcient in its heating qualities and which presents an attractive appearance.
The principal 'features of the invention consist in the novel construction of an inner refractory lined sheet metal structure and an outer casing ei'iclosing'a heating chamber open at the bottom and provided with openings in the side walls through which the heated air is directed laterally outward,

In the construction herein shown the outer casing 1 of the stove is formed with the sheet metal side walls 2 flaring slightly to the top and the bottom edges are turned inwardly to form the flanges 3. The back sheet 4 is formed similar to the side walls and is provided with inturned edge flanges 5 which are preferably spot-welded to the side walls.
The back corner legs G are formed with horizontal flanges 7 upon which the flanges 3 of the sides 2 rest and side flanges 8 extend upwardly and embrace the outer sides of the casing and are secured thereto by bolts 9.
rIhe front legs 10 are formed with upright flanges 11 arranged in acute angular relation and a bar 12 having right angularly bent ends 13 extends between said front legs and is bolted thereto by the bolts 14.
A bar 15 having horizontally offset ends 16 bolted on the inner side of the casing to the back legs extends parallel with the front bar 12.
A rectangular sheet metal casing 17 rests upon the bars 12 and 15 and is spaced from the side and back walls.
The front sheet 17 of the inner casing is formed with outwardly flaring side flanges 18 which extend to meet the flaring front edges of the side walls 2 and the meeting No. 244,196, and in Canada July 6, 192'?.

The top portions 20 of the side and back members :2 and 4 are flanged inwardly at an obtuse angle and the upper edges are flanged downwardly and. inwardly and are secured to the horizontal outwardly turned flanges 21 of the inner casing.
A cast iron top 22 rests on these top flanges and is secured thereto by bolts 23. The top 2Q is provided with a smoke pipe thimble 24 and a removable cover 25.
A flanged metal sheet 26 closes the bottom of the inner casing and intermediate of the height of `said inner casing is secured a cast metal frame 27 which supports the grates 28 and also carries the refractory fire bricks 29 which line the upper part of said inner casing and form the lire box.
A re door and frame 30 is arranged in the upper part of the front sheet 17 and an ash door 31 gives access to the space below the grates.
The side walls 2 are formed with openings 32 adjacent to the top and frames 33 provided with suitable grilles or bars 311- are secured in said openings.
Air enters at the bottom of the space between the inner and outer casings and flows upwardly around the hot inner casing and striking the top flanges 20 of the sides it is directed outwardly to heat the apartment in which the stove is placed. This construction is very effective in circulating the heated air and the open grilles in the side walls allow the radiant heat waves to flow directly outward from the inner casing.
The outer casing being spaced from the inner casing on the back and sides prevents contact with highly heated surfaces and the front is recessed back and protected by the 'forwardly projecting flanges 1S.
The whole construction is light in weight, being mainly formed of sheet metal7 it is highly efficient in disbursing heat and is of a very attractive design.

A stove7 comprising a rectangular refractory lined casing having the front side ithereof provided with flaring side flanges projecting forwardly and laterally from the front thereof, a casing formed of a pair of flaring sheet metal sides and a flaring sheet metal back secured at its forward edges to the-free edges of the daring flanges of the inner casing and spaced from said inner casing leaving the 'ront sider of the inner refractory lined casing exposed at the bottoniV of the recess forinedpby said flaring side flanges, flanges closing the'` space between the innerV and outercasinos at the to 9. andY y o. being connected with said inner casing7 and supporting thecasing above thefloor,V oi a pair or" parallel bars having oilset ends secured to said legs, a casing of sheet metal resting 'on said parallel bars and spaced from said outer casing and having areiractory lining, iianges extending inwardly from the outer casing and rigidly connected to the vtop o1p4 the inner casing, a toprclosing the inner casing, and openings 'formed in the ends of the outer casing below the langes.
