ANCHOR.

My invention relates to a tie or anchor adapted particularly for use in building construction. e
The essential objects of the invention are to provide a simple, inexpensive wall tie or anchor for use in concrete orv other building constructions, which finds particular use inv bonding terra cotta, stone, brick veneer .or other facings to a concrete wall. e 1113 Another important object is to provide such a. wall'tie or anchor which is readily Y adapted for use in standardwalls without necessitating a departure from established practices in forming the wall.
Still, anotherobject is to provide such a tie that will form a strong yconnection between adjoining wall sections and which tie may be utilized at any desired points and also, due to its structure Vwill readily com- Vpensate for anyv expansion or contraction relatively, between the adjoining anchored wall sections after installation of the ties.
y Another object is to provide atie of the character stated which lnay be adjusted to fit different kinds of Vacings to be bonded to a wall; and, also which may be cut oi inw any suitable lengths toy fit vertical dimensional requirements.
' Still other objects will become apparent to those skilled in this art, as the ldisclosure progresses.
An illustrative, practicable embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying sheet of drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is an assembled, detached, perspective view of the anchor;
Figure 2 is a side view of the anchor; Figure 3 is a bottom View of the anchor; Figure 4 is a vertical, sectional view 4o through a wall showing how the anchor in practice bonds a facingto a wall; and,
Figure 5 is a fragmentary view showing on an enlarged scale, a detail of theanchor' construction.
Referring now to these drawings, it will be seen that the structure embodies a main anchor piece 10, comprising an elongated sheet kmetal blank which is bent to arcuate shape in cross section. Flat extensions 11 extend throughout the length of the piece 10 along its sldes, as shown. Y
Along its central or longitudinal median line, the piece 10, is provided at spaced intervals, with pairs of spaced holes 12, the holes 12 of each pair being connected by a slit 13. See especially Figure 5. These sets of spaced holes 12 are deslgned to receive an anchor element 14, comprising a length of straight, stiff wire, formed with s ced loops or U-bends 15.V Each bend 15 is orced 60 through a set of holes 12,asshown.` The slit 13 makes, this poible. The straight portion of the wire 14 thus runs lengthwise of the piece l0, along its center line and on its concave.v side, while all of the spaced loops or bends 15 extend laterally in the same direction off, the convex side ofthe piece 10, all as clearly shown.
To complete the anchor assembl a soft wire, hair pin element 16 is loope loosely 70 around the wire element 14 `betilveen the loops or bends 15, therein. lBefore describing the manner of use of the improvedI anchor ,of this invention, it will be assumed that weV have a concrete Wall 17, as appears in Fig- 75, ure 4, and that it is desired to tie or bond thereto, a terra cotta or other Vfacing 18.
.Accordingly when the concrete Wall 17 is poured the anchor assembly is embedded therein as appears in Figure 4, with the main piece 10 vertically arranged therein. The part 14 with its loops 15 may be initially` adjusted and set laterally relative to the piece 10 in an obviousmanner. VQuite simi: larly, the hair pin member 16 may beset to 35 any point vertically alongthe piece 14, such set .however being limited between the loops 15. W'hen the hair pin member 16 has been adjusted to its desired position it will then be laid out in a horizontal plane between the courses of terra cotta or other acin As n this hair pin element 16 is of anneale wire expansion, or contraction the tie will not lose its effectiveness because obviously pivotal movement between the arts in the opposing wall and facing may ta e place, or, as the part 16 is soft, it will readily bend to accommodatefitself to such change.
The parts 10 and 14 may be assembled in any desired short lengths, or thel unit may be made'up as a long continuous piece, and then be cut oil in desired lengths as uired.
Due to the structure of the anchor, 1t may 110 readily be utilized at any desired pointin` the Wall,and because of its adjustable leatures may easily be adapted to use With any v kind of a facing.
What I claim is: l'.l A Wall tie comprising a metal blank provided With openings, a 'straight anchor 4Wire provided With U-bends vpassed through the openings to cause the U-bends to prcjett laterally of the blank, and a facing tie ymeinber carried by the anchor yWire between its U-bcnds and extending in a. lateral direction opposite to the said Ulbcnds.

A Wall tie comprising a metal blank provided-With spaced openings connected by a slit, a straight anchor Wire arranged alongside the blank and having a U-bend forced through the slit and openings to cause the U-bend to project llaterally or the blank, and a facing anchor member adjustably carried on the anchor Wire. g

A Wall tie comprising a Vmetal blank provided With spaced openings connected bya slit, a straight anchor Wire arranged alongside the blank andV having a U-bend forced through the slit and openings to cause the ALl-bend to project laterally of the blank, and a facing anchor comprising a soit Wire hair pin member carried on the anchor Wire.

A Wall tie comprising an elongated inet-al blank arcuated in cross section and having flat extensions, said blank provided With spaced pairs of spaced openings, each pair et openings connected byva slit to reY ceive a U-bend in Van anchor Wire arranged alongside the blank on its'concave side, and a hair pin member carried slidably by the anchorwvire and adjustable therealong betweenadjacent- U-bends.
