Another object providing a quick, detachable connectlon for holding the bowl and stand in assembled position, which connection is mounted on the exterior of the bowl and stand so as to be readily accessible for assembly and disassembly of the bowl and stand.
Another object of my invention resides 1n providing the stand with a bracket or other means projectingI laterally from the rear thereof to form a mounting for the actuable flushing mechanism, which bracket or means is formed with a drain connection to the 1nterior of the stand so that water leaking from the flushing mechanism onto the bracket will drain into the stand. 4
Another important object is to provide such a device having means for preventing hquld from dripping onthe floor such as may be caused by leakage of the flushing mechanism, or by the condensation of vapors upon the external Vsurfaces of the fiushing mechanism, and to provide a means for the disposal of said liquids.
Numerous other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent as it is better understood from the following description, which, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, discloses a perferred embodiment thereof.

Toillustrate my invention, I have shown on the drawings a two part hopper comprising a bowl part 11 and a stand part 12. A plurality of links 13 are preferably provided to secure the bowl 11 and the: stand 12 in fixed relation. A bracket 14 is provided, which is.
or may be secured to the stand 12 and is preflerably adapted to support a lliquid control vmechanism 15. A cover plate 16 ma. be provided to seal or protect the yliqui control mechanism 15.
The bowl 111 is preferably molded of vitreous china or the like and ma be of any suitable form having a surface 1 referably adjacent the top thereof, and a apted to rest upon a 'wall portion 18 of the stand 12, which may be elliptical, circular or of any other convenient form. Suitable pipe connections or conduit 19 is mounted in the bowl 11 for conducting flushing liquid to the interior thereof, and a pair of vertical bearing brackets 21 are or ,may be secured to the bowl 11 to facilitate the attachment of suitable seat and cover parts. y
The stand 12 may be of lany suitable shape having a base 22 adapted to rest upon a floor or like surface and may be ofI any suitable height, the wall 18 thereof being formed in accordance with the surface 17 of the bowl 11. A gasket 23 which may be ofany soft material, such as lead or the like, 1s referably positionedover the top edge of t e wall 18 to compensate for possible variation in the top surface of the wall 18. A plurality of laterally disposed notches or recesses or overhanging shoulders 20 may be provided in the stand 12 to facilitate the attachment of the bowl 11. A dump pa-n 24 of any suitable type and secured to a shaft 25 may be mounted in the stand 12, the shaft 25 having bearings at opposite sides in the stand 12 and being extended beyond said bearings at its ends to receive a weight member 26, which ma be secured thereto by any suitable means suoli as at 27, andan arm 28 for rotating the shaft to dump the pan 24, which is returned to the position shown byy the force `of gravity through the weight 26. 'Ihe bracket 14 may be of any suitable material having a portion 41 formed to embrace .a portion of the exterior surface of the stand l12 which may be apertured as at 42 to receive bolts or the like by which the bracketmay be secured to the stand 12 and a base portion 43 having upwardly extending bearing portions 44, 45 and 46, the portion 44 being adapted to provide a means for supporting the liquid control mechanism 15. In the present instance, I have shown the portion 44 terminating at its upper end in a plurality of fingers 47 suitably spaced apart to provide slots 48 adapted to receive bolts or the like for securing the liquid control mechanism 15 in operative position. One of the fingers 47 is preferably extended and tap-threaded as at 51 to receive a threaded screw 52.
Any suitable liquid control mechanism may be used, and in the present instance, I have shown such a device of the form and construction shown and described in my earlier Patent 936,706 including a flushing valve 53, an inlet 54, an outlet and a plunger 56. The inlet 54 is connected with a suitable liquid supply source; the outlet 55 is connected to the conduit 19 by a pipe coupling 58 or the like. The conduit 19 is secured to the bowl 11 and communicates with the interior thereof. A bell crank 59'is mounted on the pin 61, which is in turn mounted in the bearing portion 45 of the bracket 14 and a shaft 62 is mounted in the bearing portions 46 of the bracket 14. An arm 63 secured at one end ofthe shaft 62 by means of a pin 64. A bracket 65 is secured to the shaft 62 by means of a set screw 66 and is provided with an arm 67 which is preferably connected with a sliding bracket 68 having a. portion 69 extending laterally therefrom for engaging the top horizontal surface of the bearing 46 at one end of the shaft 62, and a U shaped portion 71 adapted to embrace a spherical end of an arm 72 of the lever 59. An arm 73 of the lever 59 is adapted to embrace a flanged or enlarged portion`74 on the plunger 56. The base portion 43 of the bracket 14 is preferably formed to provide a shelf or shield beneath the operative parts of the liquid control or flushing mechanism and is preferably depressed as at 75 and at a slight angle to a horizontal plane. A lug 76, which is adapted to extend through an aperture 77, is apertured as at 78. This aperture is (preferably below the plane of the depresse portion 75 and communicates therewith for draining liquid from the portion 43 into the interior of the base.
portion 34 having a hooked end- The cover plate 16 which may be of any suitable material is preferably formed to cover the liquid control mechanism and the operating means therefor, has an extended portion 79 adapted to engage in a recess 81` in the bowl 11 and to be supported by a bracket 82 secured to the bowl 11 and may be apertured to receive the screw 52 by which it is secured against a horizontal surface 83 on the extended portion 47 of the bearing portion 44.
In operation, the bracket 14 is secured to the stand 12. The liquid cont-rol device or flushing valve 53 and the operating linkage therefor is then secured to the bracket. The bowl 11 is then positioned over the stand 12 and secured thereto by means of the links 13. The flushing valve is then coupled to the conduit 19 and the cover plate 16 secured in place. Either'part may be separately removed froln the base without disturbance of the other after assembly. The operating mechanism for the flushing valve 53 and the dump pan 24 is interconnected by means of a link 91 which is secured to a pin 92 in the arm 28 and by a pin 93 in the arm 63.
It is thought that the invention and many of its attendant advantages will be understood from the foregoing description, and it will be apparent that various changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention, or sacrificing all of its material advantages, the form hereinbefore described being merely a preferred Iembodiment thereof.
I claim:
1. A water closet, comprising, a stand, a bowl attachable to said stand, liquid control mechanism for controlling bowl iushing liquid, a bracket attachableto said stand adapted to provide a support for said liquid control mechanism, and a removable cover plate for protecting said liquid control mechanism and attached to said bracket.
2. A water closet, comprising, a stand, a bowl attachable to said stand, liquid control mechanism for controlling bowl flushing liquid, a bracket attachable to said stand adapted to provide a support for said liquid -control mechanism, and a removable cover plate for protecting said liquid control mechanism, said cover plate having interlocking engagement with said bowl and being attached to said bracket.
3. A water closet, comprising a stand provided with opposed recesses formedA on the exterior face thereof, each recess providing an overhanging shoulder, a bowl supported by said sand and having a portion projecting thereinto, said bowl having opposed perforations lying in the vertical plane of said shoulders, a threaded bolt in each perforation, a link on said bolt, a nut on said bolt holding said link in position, the lower end horizontal p ane and yhaving upstanding.

terior wall of said receptacle and having a horizontal plate-like portion with upstanding projections, mounted in said upstanding projections, the horizontal plate-like portion having av drain pocket therein to receive escaping water from said mechanism, said drain pocket having a4 tubular forwardly projecting conduit extending through a registering aperture in the wall of said receptacle, whereby todrain said water into said receptacle.

7. In a water closet, the combination of a metal stand, a ceramic porcelain bowl arranged within and supported upon said` stand, and means connecting said bowl and said stand in fixe'd relation, said connecting means comprising two elongated and contraetible screw connectionsarranged at op-` posite outer sides of the stand and bowl, the lower ends of said connections being hooked into shouldered recesses in the outer sides of the stand and the'upper ends of said connections having engagements with the outer sides of thebowl near theupper part-of the latter. In a water closet, the combination of a metal stand, a ceramic porcelain bowl arranged within and supported upon said stand,'a flush valve mechanism carried by the stand, a' connection between said flush valve mechanism and said bowl and delivering bottom edge of the vbowl and resting flushingv control mechanism flushing water within the bowl, and means connecting said bowl and said stand in fixed relation, said connecting means comprising two elongated and adjustable screw connections arranged at opposite outer sides of stand and bowl,.the lowerends of said connections having engagements with .the stand and the upper ends of said connections having engagements with the outer sides of the bowl near the upper part of the latter, said connections being inclined oppositely outward from their lower to their upper ends.
9. 11. A water closet, comprising a two part receptacle, meansfor removably securin thel receptable parts in o erative relation, ushing mechanism for ushing said receptacle attached to on'e of said parts, and means attached to the other of said parts for supporting said flushing mechanism and 'collecting liguid drippings from said iushing mechamsm.

A water closet, comprising a two part receptacle, means for removably securing said receptacle parts in operative relation, flushing mechanism for lushing said receptacle attachable to one of said parts, means attachable to the othery of said parts for supporting said lushing mechanism and collecting liquid drippings from said flushing mechanism, and a detachable cover for covering said Aiiushing mechanism;
