When using a low or intermediate gear of a transmission, it is necessary'for the engine to speed up and consequently the vacuum in the intake line is relatively great. Under that tendency the governor device would function to such a degree as to possibly hamper the motor in overcoming the inertia. of
the load. However, with the present attachment the governor is rendered inoperative when the vehicle is in low or intermediate gear so that no difficulty in starting the vehicle is experienced. When the vehicle is under way and moving in high gear, the automatic governor device will function in its normal way.
Without further description it is thought that the features and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and it will of course be understood that changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of the invention and scope of the appended claims.
1. In an automatic suction responsive type governor device for internal combustion engines, the combination with the governing device normally open to the atmosphere and adapted to be moved by the difference of pressure between the vacuum in the intake pipe line and the atmosphere and a gear shifting part, of means actuated by said gear shifting part for cutting off atmospheric pressure from said automatic governing device to render the same inoperative,

In an automatlc suction responsive type governor device for internal combustion engines, the combination with the governing device normally open to the atmosphere and adapted to be moved by the difference of pressure between the vacuum in the intake pipe line and the atmosphere and a gear shifting part, of valve means actuated by the movement of said gear shifting part for cutting oi communication between the atmosphere and the governing device.
3. An attachment for automatic suction responsive type engine governors having an atmosphere port normall open to the atmosphere when the engine 1s operating, of auto matic means for closing said atmosphere port to render the governing device inoperative under certain predetermined conditions.
4. An attachment for automatic suction responsive 4type engine governors having an atmosphere port normally open to the atmosphere when the engine is operating, of means for closing said atmosphere port to render the governing device inoperative, said means being actuated by a gear shifting part of the vehicle.
5. An attachment for automatic suction responsive type engine governors having an atmosphere port normally open to the atmosphere when the engine is operating, of means for closing said atmosphere port to render the governin device inoperative, said means comprising a ood, a conduit connected to the hood, a valve member having an atmosphere port connected with said conduit, and means for operating said valve member.
6. An attachment for use in connection with internal combustion engine governors of the suction responsive type which control the speed of the engine by regulating the supply of mixture and are normally open to the atmosphere, comprising in combination with the governor, a hood adapted to be iitted to the air intake side of the overnor, a conduit connected to said hood, a racket, a valve device carried by the bracket and including an atmosphere port and a spring pressed plunger having a stem, and means for engaging said stem to actuate the plunger.
7. An attachment for use in connection with internal combustion engine governors of the suction responsive type which control the speed of the engine by regulating the supply of mixture and are normally open to the atmosphere, comprising in combination with the governor, a hood adapted to be fitted to the air intake side of the governor, conduit connected to said hood, a bracket, a valve device carried by the bracket and including an atmosphere port and a spring pressed plunger having a stem, and a gear shifting member for engaging the stem of the plunger.
