The present invent-ion relates to photography, and more particularly to apparatus 'for conveying prints through a delinite path, such as through successive baths for treatment. lt is also in the nature oi an improvement uponv the apparatus disclosed and claimed in my prior lPatent '#1,421,079 issued June 2*", 1922.
An object ot the invention is to provide improved and simplified means for disengaging the prints or sheets from the conveying means, and for depositing them at a delinite location, after the treatment has been completed; whiehwill operate with certainty; which will insure quick and positive disengagement of a print from the conveyor with a minimum otmutilation of the print or sheet; which will be automatic in action; which will not require attention or super-v vision by the attendant or operator; and which will be relatively simple, dependable, durable and inexpensive.

A shaft 7 extends between and is rotatably supported by the opposite side walls of the apparatus preferably above the upper stretch of the conveyor.` Arms 8 are fixed to the opposite end portions of the shaft 7, depend along the sides of the conveyor, and then toward one another into the space between the stretches ol the conveyor. are positioned with their open ends extend-- ing forwardly in the direction of their travel during a s-:triking operation which will be in the direction of travel of the lower stretch of the conveyor immediately above the receptacle l, so as to clear each cross bar 2 by embracing it when the bar passes through the conveyor between corresponding stretches of the endless members in order to engage or strike the print carrie-d by that particular bar 2 as shown in Fig. f1.
An arm or lever 11 is also lined upon and depends from the shaft 7 at one side of the apparatus, and at its free end is pivoted by a pin 12 to one end of a lever 13 which is in turn pivoted by a'pin 1% to an intermediate section of a lever 15. The lever 15 is pivoted at one end by a pin 1G to a suitable bracket 17. A helical tension spring 1S is connected at oneend to the free end of the lever 15, and at its other end is anchored by a pin 19 to a suitable part of the apparatus, so as to urge or bias the lever 15 yieldingly into the position shown in AFig. Zl, in which it and the spring extend in the saine general direction and are in substantial alignment with one another, that is7 in a dead center position. The levers 11 and 13 which constitute a toggle connection between the lever 15 and the shaft 7 of the kicker member, are of such length that they will be in a broken or acute position when the spring 1S and the lever 15 are substantially aligned as shown in Fig. L1'.
Obviously then, when the toggle levers 1l and 13 are moved into a straight line or dead center position, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, the spring 1S will be tensionedto a greater extent than that which it possesses in Fig. Il. lVhen the toggle. levers are moved past dead center position and into the position shown in Fig, 1, the spring` 18 will tend to continue the move-ment, but such movement will be limited by a pin 2O disposed in the path of one of the toggle levers, such as 11. 'lhis limited position is shown in Fig. 1, and the arms o l the kicker member are so fixed upon the shaft. It Will be obvious that various changes in the varioiis details, which have been herein described and illustrated in order to explain the the nature of the invention, may be made by those s iilled in the art vithin the principle and scope of the iiiivention as expressed in the appended claims.

In photo-graphic apparatus, a conveyor provided with means tor catching andcarrving' a print, and a device supported independently ot the conveyor and controlled thereby tor striking the print in a mannerto disengage it from the carrying 4means when the print reaches a desired point in its travel with the conveyor. y l

In photographie apparatus, a conveyor provided with impaling means for engaging with and conveying a print, and means snpported independently of the conveyor adjacent the path ot travel of the print at the'point Where disengagement oi the print'is desired 'lor in'ipeliing the print in a direction ahead of the impaling means for an instant to disengage it therefrom.

7. In photographic apparatus, endless conveying means for engaging and carrying a print, and means normally positioned between adjacent runs of said conveying means for striking a print and releasing it from said conveying means.
8. ln photographic apparatus, means for engaging and moving a sheet, and a device controlled by said engaging means and locat-L ed adjacent the path or travel ot the sheet with the said moving means for imparting a sharp movement to the sheet in a manner to disengage it from said means.
9. ln photographie apparatus, impaling means inclndinga bar with an impaling proVH ject-ion extending` therefrom Vand movable in a closed path `for engaging' and arrying a sheet, and means within the path et movement of said bar operative automatically when the sheet reaches a desired point in its movement for striking` the sheet in a manner to disengage it from the impaling projection.

27. ln a photographic apparatus, the combination with a bar having a path ot travel horizontally above a desired point oit deposit and provided with impaling projections extending forwardly therefrom for engaging and moving a sheet therewith over the said point and means located independently ot said bar and actuated by contact therewith for stripping a sheet from the impaling projections with a movement in the direction in which the latter extend and in the direction o'l" travel oic the bar but moving with greater speed than the latter to disengage the sheet and deposit it in the receptacle.
