CORD GRIP FOB, ELECTRICAL APPARATUS.
Application filed March 22, 1928, Serial Il'o. 263,784, and Great Britain March 28, 1927.
This invention has relation to cord grips for electrical apparatus and it has for its object the provision oi. rprovemcnts by means of which certain advan" iSllfl-ll he ohtained.
A cord grip, in accordance with this invention, comprises a longitudinally slotted plug; screw threaded from the slotted end and ii collar adapted to embrace the plug, said collur having internal projections to engage the slot or slots in the plug; and grip the conductors when the plug is screwed into the lamp holder or the like.
In order that the invention, the object and nature of which have been set forth, may be particularly described and ascertained, reference will now he made to the accoi'npanying drawings on which li ig. l is an elevat-ional view of the plug;
Fig. 2 is a like view of the collar;
li in'. 3 a. sectional View showing the plug and collar mounted in position on the top oi a lump holder.
11 is the plug which is circular in section and has two 'dianietral longitudinal slots 12,
the inner walls oi which slope from end to end. The ilup; 11 is scrmv-thrended as ndinoted 13 for a portion oi its length lOll'l the slotted end. 14 is the collar which has two internal dionietriczilly arranged projections 15, which are sloped to correspond with the slope oi? the inner walls of the slots 12.
In use, the electrical conductors 16 are passed through the collar 1 L into which the g ving 11 is then inserted. The conductors are placed in the slots 12 and are held therein by the proj ctions of the collar 14:. The plug 11 is new .ewed into the lamp holder 17 and relative movement between the plug and collar is set up when the collar contacts with the lamp holder. This relative movement causes the electrical conductors 16 to he gripped thinly.
Instead oi the slots 1.2 being sloped from end to end they may be parallel for a part of their length with the longitudinal axis of the plug.
hat I claim is 1. A cord grip for electrical apparatus comprising a liingritudinally slotted plug screw threaded from the slotted end and a collar adapted to embrace the plug, said colla 1- having; internal projections to engage the slot or slots in the plug and grip the electrical conductors when the plug is screwed into the lamp holder or the like.
A. cord grip as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plug is circular in section and has two dieiueti'ically arranged slots, the inner walls of which slope from end to end.
