ELECTRIC HEATING ELEMENT.
Application led October 24, 1927, Serial No. 228,140, and in the Netherlands October 19, 1926.
The invention relates to electric heating elements for radiating heating fires in which the resistance wire is carried by a plurality of incombustible little blocks, which are arranged in a row in a guttershaped container of metal or other proper material.
Vith such heatingl elements it often happens that the blocks break and must be replaced. Therefore it is desirable to simplifyother blocks at one side of the broken block,.
. it being mostly necessary to release the container at one end -from the contact terminal and to bend the metal container open at thls end.
Further containers are known of which the blocks may be lifted out, but not without loosening at the same time one or more other blocks.
According ,to the invention the construction makes use of a container having a vertical section which renders it possible to lift out one single block, and of separate fixing means which makes each block independent from the others.
According to the invention the device is such that each block may be lifted out of the container in entire independency of the other blocks, since the blocks are in the sides of the portions which are located inside the container, provided with one or more holes, into which are inserted screws o r pins fastened to the container. v
The drawing illustrates by way of example some embodiments of the invention.

The blocks are arranged in a container 1 whichma'y for instance have-a U-shaped vertical section, the blocks 2`being'to that end provided with a foot 3. In said foot 3 there is at one side or at both sides a somewhat oblong hole 4 into which are inserted the ends of the screws or pins 5 which are screwed or placed in the side wall of the container 1. The hole 4 does not necessarily need to be obscrew or the pin 5 have been chosen such that the blocks are fastened so that they have sufci'ent play to allow them to vfreely expand when they become hot. The dimensions have been chosen so and` the construction is carried out such, that the blocks have also a certain play in transverse direction, so that the risk that the blocks will break owing to heating or to other causes is nil. l
For the rest the blocks have the usual form in which the resistance wire 8 is led between ,cams 9 of thel blocks and further through openings 10 to the adjacent block.
Thereby a radiation in all directions is obtained 'and the use of a reflector behind the element is then most effective.
In the embodiment according to Figs. 3
and 4 the resistance wire is not led throurrh openings in the block but zigzag between t e cams 9 of the blocks. With this arrangement there is then less risk that the wire will be damaged, whereas the heat will substantially be radiated in aforward direction. The arrangement of the blocks in the eontaineris further el'ected'in the same manner as with the irst mentioned embodiment.
The construction according to the invention gives the advantage that 'the interchanglong butthe dimensions with respect to the ing of broken blocks may be effected very quickly.
