BEFBIGEBATOB.
My invention relates to improvements in refrigerators primarily designed lfor, the cooling of bottled drinks. I
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a refrigerator for the storage of bottled drinks which will occupy a relatively small space, which may be cheaply manufactured and which, While being cheap from a construction standpoint, will be efficient in the cooling of the bottled goods.
For the purpose of disclosing my invention I have illustrated one embodiment thereof in the accompanying drawings, in4
Fig. 1 is a front view ofv a refrigerator embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof;
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section Fig. 4 is a transverse section;
Fig. 5 is an enlarged detail section of the upper edge;
Fig. 6 1s an enlarged detail section showing the manner of securing the legs in position, and
Figs. 7 and 8 are detail sections showing the means for mounting the bottle dividers,
In the embodiment of the invention illustrated, a rectangular outer casing is formed comprising side and end panels `l which are connected together at their meeting edges by corner angles 2, which angles provide not 'only means for connecting the panels together, but add to the trim of the structure.-
These angles are Apreferably secured to the panels by bolts or screws. Each of the panels 1 at its bottom, is inturned as at 3 and is provided with a down-turned lip 4. Fitting within the bottom opening thus formed is a bottom closure 5 having a downturned ange 6 lying parallel with the lip 4 and having an up-turned lip 7 which overlaps the edge of the lip 4, the metal of the lip 7 being crimped upon the lipy 6 to hold the bottom in position.
This casing is adapted to be supported on legs preferably in the form of angle members 8, the upper ends of which are inturned at 9 and which are secured to the bottom of the casing by means of screws 10 adapted to be passed through the inturned fianges 3 and into corner angles 11 arranged within the corners of the casing, these angles bein secured in position by the bolts 12, whic bolts also assist in securing the'angles 2 in position. This construction permits of 16, 1927. Serial N0. 233,532.
the ready removal of the legs in event it is desired that the structure be placed on a counter or table. i Nesting within the outer casing is an inner open-topped tub, the side walls 13 and the bottom 14 of which are spaced apart from the outer casing, which spacing is filled Withsuitable insulating material, such for instance as ground cork or the like. The walls 13 are slightly shorter than the outer panels and the exposed edges of the Walls are covered by a top cap, one on each edge, comprising the flat plate 15 having a downturned flange 16 overlyin the walls 13 and an up-turned flange 17 lylng parallel withy the upwardly extending portion of the panels'and fitting over this portion is a U panel 18, the inner wall 19 of'which is spaced from the Wall of the tub to provide ,a ledge 20.
The inner tub is divided into an ice chamber 21 and a bottle chamber 22, by m'eans of rality of longitudinally extending channels for the reception of bottles by means of longitudlnally extending rods 27, the ends of Which are down-turned at 28 and at one end of the rod take into sockets 29 formed by a strip 30 secured to the dividing wall 23 and at their opposite end into sockets 31 formed by a similar strip securedto the front wall of the tub. By this construction the members dividing the bottle chamber into channels also add in the spacing and maintaining in position of the transversely extending divider 23.` It should be noted that this divider 23 'is provided with o enings 32 therein to permit the liquid rom the ice chamber 21 to flow into the bottle chamber 22. l
The bottle chamber is closed by a suitable cover 33 comprising a pair of spaced apart metal Walls containing between the same insulating material and this cover is hinged at its center as at 34 to permit one section of i the cover to be raised at a time.
. The ice chamber is closed by a cover 35 of a similar double'wall construction, which cover at its opposite ends is provided with handles 36 adapted to extend materiallyupwardly from the top of the cover and receive between the same a shallowreceptacle 37 in which may be placed bottles for displayand renewal purposes.
The ice chamber is suitably drained by a drain pipe 38 having drain openings 39 at their tops and at such a height as to maintain the Water level in the ice and bottle chambers at a desired level.
l claimas my invention:
1. A bottle refrigerator comprising an outer casing and an inner receptacle, the Walls of which are spaced apart from the walls of said outer casing, said spacing being lled with suitable insulating material, a transverselyextending divider member removably mounted in said receptacle and means for dividing one of the compartments formed by said dividing member into runways for bottles comprising longitudinally extending rods removably connected to the divider member and to the front wall of the receptacle and maintaining the divider member in properly spaced relation with respect incarne to the front and back walls of the receptacle.
2. A bottle refrigerator comprising an outer casing and an inner receptacle,` the Walls of which are suitably spaced and the spacing filled with insulating material, means for dividing said receptacle into two compartments comprising a transversely eX- tending removably.mounted divider plate, an independent cover for each of said compartments and the upper ed e of the plate fitting between said covers an having means for supporting the adjacent edges ofsaid covers and means for longitudinallydivid' ing one of saidy compartments into bottle runways comprising longitudinally extending members removably connected to the bottom of said dividing member and to the front wall of said receptacle.
lln witness whereof, I, CHESTER A. FRICK, have hereunto set my hand at Muncie, ludiana, this 12th day of November, A. D. one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven. v
