Lufling-cranes with inclined oscillating axle for the jib are known. In luffing-cranes of this type the jib-head oscillates on an elliptic guide bar the fulcrum pointof which is the inclined axle. The charge is not swung in a plane from forward to the rear but it describes an elliptic course which is more or less strongly set off in accordance with theangle of inclination of the axle. Cranes of this type cannot work on one holst opening ashas to be done according to the invention.
The invention has for its object to make two cranes work on one ships hatch to ac celerate the loading and discharging ofthe ships. 7 7
According to the invention the jib executes, with regard to the horizontal pivot axis, such a a movement that the charge swings laterally parallel along the crane frame.
I It has been proposed to construct cranes as slewing cranes. I In combination with a lb having a later ally projecting or set off jib head the applica 7 tion of the, oscillability presents the advantage that, when the ships hatches are not situated accurately on the plane of oscillation of the jib head the charge may be swung along the portal from forward to the rear at an angle to the portal. 7 Another characteristic feature of the invention is that. a luffing crane of the improved construction is constructed as a slewing crane. An embodiment of the invention is illustrated, by way of example, in" theaccompanying drawing in which I Fig. 1 shows the improved crane in front elevation. I V 1 Fig. 2- shows the crane in. side elevation in the position prior to the lifting of the load.
The hitting-crane has an oscillatable arm or jib b pivotable around a horizontal axle 6. This jib projects laterally-at an angle to the vertical plane of its base or supporting frame d and its extremity or b is offset a frame mounted set laterally with relation to at an'angle to the arm in the same direction so that, when the jib is oscillating around hatch-crown the merely by luffing the jib. On the portal althe supporting vframe z' for the crane beam is mounted on a base plate 9 pivotable around a vertical axle g After the load 1 The ,lifting-lufiing-and slewing-gear, and I the drivers stand are located in the cabin d. The jib has, as usual, a counter weight 7.
The jibmaybe operated, in any suitable manner, by direct tooth gear drive or by hauling in by means of ropes.
The advantages consist specially in that. the load to be lifted is charged and dis charged: merely by lifting out rotation of the crane.
I claim: l
1. A crane comprising 'a supporting base,
on said base to rotate on a vertical axls, and a cranearm mounted on and luffing withthe framebetween the vertical center and,
one side of the frame to swing on a hori= zontal transverse axis, the portion "of the crane arm above the said horizontal trans- I tip-at .an outward and upwardlateral angleto-f- Of the opposite side of the frame and base', where verse axis being inclined toward its ward and beyondthe vertical plane by in shifting a load'supported from the arni tip by rotation of the arm on the horizontal transverse axis'the load will be movedifrom' front to rear 01, vice'versa close to and par 'allel with the latter-named side of the frame andbase. v
2. A lufling-crane as specified in claim 1 in which the free end of the crane arm is 0H- the offset arm and in the same direction.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature RUDOLF WILTS
