VENTILATOR.
Application filed August 5, 1927. Serial No. 210,941.
This invention relates to ventilators and is an improvement upon the ventilator disclosed in my copending application filed April 12, 1927 and hearing Serial No. 183,123.
An object of the present invention isto improve the construction of the ventilator disclosed in the above referred to application, by reducing the amount of material and time required in the manufacture of the ventilator, and by simplifying the construction and operation of the shutter adjusting mechanism.
Another object of the invention is the pro vision of a storm cover which may be detachably secured to the ventilator, so as to prevent the passage of rain or snow.
-With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.

For the purpose of moving the bar 27 there is provided a rod 28. This rod is mountedin bearings provided in the frame 11 and has mentioned willsimultaneously move the shut- V rigid with'its upper end a crank arm 29.
One end of this crank arm is pivotally connected to a link'30 and the latter has pivotal connection as shown at 3l with the bar 27. By partially rotating therod 28, the bar 27 will be moved longitudinally either to the right or left from the position shown by full lines in Figuret to the positions shown-by dotted linesin said figure. In either position, the shutterswill be moved to one side of the passages 21 so as to entirely open these I. passages. Any intermediate positions will of course only partially open the passages. In 7 Figure 11 there is shown an operating rod 28, having a socket 28 at one end to. receive the lower end of the rod 28, and a handle 28 at its opposite end, so that the rod 28 may bev rotated to adjust the shutters 24h The top wall 12 of the frame has cut therefrom a strip 32 and this strip is bent over the bar 27 as shown in Figures and 9 of the drawings so as to form a guide for this bar. One or more of these guides may be provided as desired,

Having described the invention what is claimed is:+
1. The combination with a ventilator ineluding a casing open at its front and rear-and eluding a casing open at its front and rear and having spaced panels providing passages through the ventilator with means to regulate the passages, of a, cover adapted to fit the front of the casing, said cover having openings therein extending at right angles to the ventilator passages, hoods extending over the openings in the cover and means to removably secure the cover to the ventilator.
A ventilator comprising a casing open at its front and rear, spaced panels arranged within thecasingproviding passages through said casing, arcuate shutters mounted-for pivotal movement between the horizontal walls of the casing to regulate the passages, and one horizontal wall of the casing having spaced arcuate-shaped slots, a bareXtending along the slotted wallof the casing, a guide arm struck from theframeand extended over the bar, means carried by the bar'and proectmg through the slots to engage the shutters and actuate the latter'when the bar is moved longitudinally and means to move the bar.
