My invention relates to improvements` in storage buildings the objects of which are to provide means whereby a greater floor area ,can be obtained for a given site area than with buildings of regular construction, and also to provide means whereby cars or tru'clrs may drive up to or down from any floor by easy gradients, and that the direction taken when driving both up or down shall be the same so that the danger "of cars colliding is eliminated.
The invention consists essentially of. an arrangement whereby each floor overlaps in part the tloor below, and inclined runways extend from one floor to the overlapping portion of the floor above and to the overlapping portion of the floor below, as will be more fully `shown in the following specification, in which Fig. 1 is a fractionated floor plan.

The numeral 1 indicates a pair of side walls and 2 a pair of end walls to the building. The numeral 3 indicates a main floor area extending between the end walls 2 and along the side wall 1 on opposite sides of Vthe building, and 4 are Hoor s aces extending between the portions 3 a ong the end walls 2, all of the fioors being supported on L0 suitable columns 5. The numeral 6 indicates floor spaces which extend inwards from the areas 3 towards the centre of the building. Runways 7 and 8 extend between the. floors, all of which are adapted to be traversed in the same direction, those indicated by the numeral 7 leading to the iioor above and those indicated by the numeral 8 leading to the iloor below. The numeral 9 indicates a further floor area extending between the areas 6 and 3 andthe inner ends of all the runways 7 and 8. In the storage of motor vehicles low storey heights are sulficient to house private cars, taxicabs, and busses, but greater storeyheight is required for trucks and vans. Similarly for the storage ot' heavy goods low storeys are suitable and high storeys are required for `the storage of light or bulk goods. Therefore, by arranging my `builing to provide `for two tiers oi floor areas 4and 6 to each tier of areas` 3 and 9 I provide ample accommodation ol requisiteceiling height for allrequirements and increase the eifective floor` area of my building withoutincreasing its total height.

The runways being arranged in pairs with one leading to an up per floor and the other to a lower Hoor, `enables all cars to travel in the same direction so that danger from collision is eliminated.

Figure 4, indicates Hoor areas extending between the end walls2 along the side walls l and reaching towards the centre of the building to surround onthree sides the runways 7 and 8, and 11 is a further floor area connecting the areas `10 together. The numeral 12, see Figure 5, indicates a door area extending inwards from the end walls 2 and reaching outwards to the runways 7 and 8. The numeral 13 indicates an opposing pair of areas, and 14 is a central floor area. The areas 13 and 14 are of the low storey height and the areas 12 are of high storey height, therefore a `similar added area oi' floor space is attained as is shown in Figures V1, 2, and 3 over the regular type of construction. y
What I claim as my invention is: i i
1. A storage building havin a plurality of floors disposed at half story intervals one above the other, alternate floors being constructed to extend the full overall width of the building and being provided with `centrally disposed openings having the marginal portions thereofspaced a considerable distance inwardly from the enclosing walls of the building whereby each of said floors affords a storage area entirely surrounding the opening formed therein, the remaining floors being arranged with their central portions opposite said openingsand with the edges thereof projecting beyond and in i i i i 06 i It will also be noted thatas` each set of` spaced overlapping relation to the floor edges defining said openings, said remaining iioors being extended between tWo opposite enclosing walls of the building and being spaced from the remaining opposite Walls of the building.
2. A storage building having a plurality of floors disposed at half story intervals one above the other, alternate floors being eonstrueted to extend the full overall width oi' the building and being provided with eentral openings spaced inwardly and appreciable distance troni the enclosing walls of the building, the remaining floors being positioned opposite said openings with their edges extending beyond and overlapping the floor edges defining said openings to provide additional storage space between the overlapping portions et said ioors and ramps interconnecting adjacent lioors.
3. A storage building having a pluralityr of floors disposed at lia-lit story intervals one above the other, alternate floors being conmolines strueted to extend the full overall width of tlie building and being provided with eentral openings spaced inwardly a considerable distance from the enclosing walls of the building, the remaining doors being extended between'two opposite enclosing Walls of the building and spaced Yl'roni the remaining enclosing walls of the building, said remaining doors being arranged with their central portions opposite said open ings and their edges projecting beyond and overlapping the adjacent floor edges delining said openings and ramps intercmiueeting the overlapping portions oi' adjacent floors, there being two pairs of ramps provided at each oit two opposite sides oi said openings, the ramps oi' each pair beingnespeetively arranged to connect one floor with the adjacent upper and lower floors.
