UNITED STATES PATENT Demon.
CHARLES RUMLEY, OF HELENA, MONTANA TERRITORY.
lMPROVEMENT IN BLOW-PIPES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,304, dated November 23, 1875; application filed September 25, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES BUMLEY, of Helena, Lewis and Clarke county, Montana Territory, have invented a new and Improved Blow-Pipe, of which the following is a specifieation Figure 1 represents a vertical longitudinal section of my improved blow-pipe; and Fig. 2, a vertical transverse section through the globe part on line 0 c, Fig. 1, showing the moisturecollecting diaphragm or plate.
gimilar letters of reference indicate corregponding parts.
My invention relates to an improved blowpipe, in which the moisture is collected in a neat and clean manner, and easily removed therefrom and it consists of a blow-pipe with a globe part or chamber, having a diametrical plate or diaphragm for collecting the water, and an exit-opening for expelling the same.
In the drawing, A represents the globe or chamber, into which the air induction and eduction pipes B and G of a blow-pipe project.
The globe A is provided with a central strip or diaphragm-plate, D, extending diametrically across the globe. The air enters through pipe B, and impinges against the diaphragm D, so as to arrest the moisture and prevent its being carried along with the compressed air into the pipe 0. The globe A has also a small exit-opening, E, that may be closed, when the blow-pipe is in use, with a plug, or preferably with the finger pressed thereon.
By removing the plug or finger, and turning the blow-pipe till the opening E is at the under side of the globe, the accumulated moisture may be expelled through the opening by blowing through pipe B furnishing thus a very simple and convenient means of keeping the blow-pipe clean without detaching any part thereof.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A blow-pipe made with induction and eduction pipes, projecting into a globe part or chamber, having a diametrical strip or diaphragm and an exit-opening,for collecting and expelling the moisture, substantially as specified.
CHARLES RUMLEY. Witnesses:
