RADIATOR INCLOSUItE.

This invention relates to a device for closing a radiator or similar heating device.
My invention has for an object to provide a radiator cover which will present an appearance analogizing the furnishings of a house while restricting the circulatory action of the heated air to a minimun'i degree.
A further object of the invention is to provide a radiator cover having a top which protected by a battle spaced away from the top With common vents for the space below and above the baffle.
To attain these objects and such further objects as may appear herein or be hereinafter pointed out, I make reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part hereof, in which I Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device with parts broken away to disclose the interior construction;
Figure 2 is an enlarged, corner in side elevation;
Figure 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view.
The device comprises a housing, indicated generally by the numeral 10, comprising end walls 11 and a front wall 12, comprising in their structure corner posts 1?), 14 and 15, and horizontal members 10, 17 and 18.
The corner posts and horizontal men'ibcrs have their inner edge rabbeted as at 19 and within. the rabbet thus formed a reticulated or foraminons sheet 20 is secured in any approved manner as by the bead 21.
As it is desirable to protect the wall adjacent the radiator from the effect of the rising current of air, a back wall 22 is also provided and all of the walls are supported upon beams 23 and 24- which in turn are preferably supported upon legs 25, such legs, however, forming no essential part of the invention.
The exterior of the housing is completed by the use of a top 26 lined upon its under surbroken section of a face by an insulating sheet 2?. no top horizontal member 17 is provided adjacent the top 26 with a row of openings 28 formed preferably in a straight line parallel with such top. Spaced below the top is a battle plat 29 having its front edge set in a groove 50 which transectsthc openings 28 defining a space 31 between such baffle 29 and the insulating sheet 27. The rear edge of the baflie 29 is similarly spaced by a tiller strip 32.
F or the purpose of obscuring the openings 28 and also for deflecting the current of air emerging therefrom downwardly, a molding strip 33 is attached to and depends from the overhanging edge 34: of the to p 26, defining a space through which the heated air from the openings 28 is eductcd.
The construction provided as above described, or its equivalent, is such that it can be made from wood or the like, so that all parts visible may correspond substantially with the furniture of the room in which it is located and will overcome to a great extent the warping, twisting and buckling effect usually found with the use of wood adjacent to a heat diffusing element.
I lilaving thus described my invention and illustrated its use, what I claim as new and d esire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A ra iator cover comprising a back, a front, opposed ends and a top, all connected into an organizedportable structure, said front being provided adjacent the top with a row of openings spaced by intervening webs, a deflector spaced under the top with its front edge transecting the openings and inserted into and retained by the webs, and an overhang depending from the top and covering over and concealing the openings and said deflector front edge.
