Description

R. UHLIG con, nusz' FURNACE Filed March 25, 1927 Patented Feb. 12, 1929. 7
UNITED STATES RICHARD UHLIG, OF DESSAU, GERMANY.
GOAL-DUST FURNACE.
Application filed March 25, 1927, Serial No.
This invention relates to a coal dust furnace and consists essentially in providing means for blowing coal dust into a furnace having an inclined stepped grate which is supplied with fuel, the blowing of said coal dust being accomplished at such a height that said coal dust will come in contact with the tips of the flames which are produced by the fuel burning on said grate. The furnace may be of any construction having said type of grate. The object of this invention is to increase the efficiency of furnaces ot' the kind stated, and the means for attaining the object in view consists essentially in the provision of nozzles which are located in the fire bridge which is positioned essentially at a point corresponding to about one half of the height of the inclined or stepped grate. In this mannor the tips of the flames will be energetically whirled about and the not yet burnt coal particles and fire gases will be brought into intimate contact with the oxygen" which is necessary for complete combustion. Besides, par- 178,280, and in Germany September 6, 1926.
ticles of ashes carried along with the fire gases are separated from the same in that the directions'of the colliding particles are altered so that the deposit of ashes in the fines will be diminished.
The invention is illustrated diagrammatically and by way of example on, the accompanying drawing, which shows a vertical longitudinal section through a furnace designed according to this invention.
On the drawing, 1 denotes an inclined stepped grate which receives the coal from the hopper 2. 3 denotes a boiler of any desired type, 5 the fire-bridge, 4 the coal dustnozzles, and 6 a pipe or pipes through Which the nozzles 4 are supplied with the dust coal.
I claim: In combination with a boiler, an inclined stepped grate adaptedto receive fuel, a firebridge positioned in front of said grate, 1102- l zles arranged in said fire-bridge, and means for supplying coal dust to said nozzles.
