TIPPINGI APPARATUS non wAeons .ennrnn LI Application filed October 31, 1927, Serial in) 230,029, and inGreat Britain November 9,1926. 1
This invention refers to tipping appara.-
'tus for wagons and the like, hereinafter referred to generally as wagons, particularly for effecting discharge from .a first posi-' tion to a second position, which may be close together, involving raising the load. For example, for effecting discharge over a wall from one side to the other.
Apparatus according to this invention comprises a platform for the wagon, a base for the platform to stand on, a main frame onwhich the platform is mounted to rock, a main axis about which the main frame is mounted to turn, a carrier mounted to turn at or about the main axis, a side rest .on the main frame for the outer side of the'wagon, a holder on the carrier located above the main axis for the top of the wagon, a weight pivoted to the main frame, a link pivoted to the weight and pivoted to the carrier, the weight and the link and the i pivoting being such that in the process of tipping the weight acts upon the carrier and maintains the holder, which is on'the carrier, against the top of the wagon.
Examples of apparatus according to this invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying. drawings, in
. which Figure 1 is an elevation of an apparatus showing a first position in the process of tipping, and Figures 2 and 3 are similar elevations,Figure 3 showing a second position, and Figure 2 a position intermidate between the first and second.
Figure 4 is an elevation, partly broken.
Holder F on carrier E. Weight Gr pivotedto main-frame A at 4. Link H pivoted to weight G at 5 and to carrier E at 6.
In this example, with the parts in the first position, Figure 1, the pivot 4 is above the main axis2, and the'link- H is pivoted to weight G below the pivot '4 and to carrier E below the main axis Figures 4, 5 and 6 show :Main frame A.
. Main axis 2. Platform B pivoted to A at 3.
Base C for platform E to stand. on; Side A. I rest D on A. CarrierE. Holder F on'carrier E. WeightKG pivoted tomain frame-A at 4. Link H- pivoted to weight G. at. 7 and to carrier E at 8.
lngthis example with the partsinthefirst position,- Figure 4, the pivot 4, as in Figure tial for themain frame A and carrier E to be pivoted aboutone andthe same axis such as. 2, but generally and for constructional purposes this may be preferable. I
-In the drawings gearing is shown for turning the main frame A about the axis 2, comprising toothed segment 9- turnable with frame A and pinion 10 gearing with segment 9. Pinion 10 generally is power driven. In Figure 4 pinion 10 is shown rotatable with toothed wheel 11 driven by a pinion 12. Wheel 11 and pinion 12 are omitted from Figures 5 and 6.
I claim 1. Tipping apparatus for wagons, com prising aplatform for the wagon, a base for the platform to stand on, a main frame on which the platform is mounted to rock, a main axis about which the main frame is mounted to turn, a carrier mounted to turn at or about the main axis, a side rest on the main frame for the outer side of the wagon, a holder on the carrier for the top of the wagon, a'weight pivoted to the main frame at a position above themain axis, a-link pivoted to the weight and pivoted to the carrier, and means for turning the main frame about the main axis. 7
2. Tipping apparatus for wagons, comprising a platform for the wagon, a base for which the platform is. mounted to rock, a
.main axis about which the mainframe is mounted to turn, a carrier mounted to turn at or about the. main axis, a side rest on the main frame for the outer side of thewagon, a holder on the carier for the top. of the wagon, a weight pivoted to the main frame, a link pivoted to the weight at a position above that of the ;pivot of the weight with the main frame and to the carrier at a position above the main axis, and means for turning the main frame about the main. axis.
'7 the main axis, a side rest on the main frame a 3. Tippingapparatus for wagons, compriin'g a platform for the wagon, a base for the platform, a main frame on which the platform is mounted .to rock, a main axis about which the mainframe is mounted to turn, a carrier mounted to turn at or about for the outer side of the wagon, a holder on the carrier for the .tOP of the wagon, a weight pivoted to the mainframe, a link pivoted to the Weight and pivoted to the carrier, a toothedsegment turnable'with the main frame and a pinion gearing with the toothed segment; s
4. Tipping apparatus for Wagons, comprising a platform for-the wagom'a base for the platform, a main frame on which the platform is mounted to rock, a main axis about which the main frame 1s mounted to.
turn, a carrier mounted to turn at or about the main axis, a side rest on the main frame I for the outer side of the wagon, a holder on the carrier for the top ofv the wagon, a Weight pivoted to the main frame, a link pivoted to. the Weight at a position above ANDREW WHELDON' BiLES,
