, tain new and useful Improvements in Faucets 5' and I- do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specifica tion.

My invention relates to faucets or bib-cocks; and consists of a peculiar construction of the delivery mouth or end of the faucet, whereby, by turning the part around in one direction, an ordinary bib is made, and in the other or reverse direction, a filtering faucet is obtained. The object of my invention is to provide a simple and convenient coinbinedfilter and ordinary faucet or bib cock, whereby, by simply reversing the position or turning around the end ofthe faucet, either the water is filtered or else is delivered in the ordinary manner, as may be desired. A is a bent pipe, which connects with the ordinary service-pipe formed at its end into a spigot, A. Turning on this spigot and secured thereto iii the usual manner ofsecuring the spigots to the faucets by screw end c, and Washer and nut a', is the delivery mouth or central portion, B, through which the spigot' A of the pipe A passes, and is secured-at t one'side into an ordinary hose-bib, C, and at the other or opposite side with' merely a dat face, D, with an opening,lD', therein. E isa filtering-chamber constructed alike at each i end with screw-heads e e', adapted to [it within the screw-hole D inthe headA B, the one, e', being removable for cleaning the interior of filter. Within this chamber E is the filtering material F, consisting of sponge, charcoal, gravel, or any other suitable and appropriate material. At each end are line wire-gauze screens, Gr Gr', held down in position, the one, Gr', by the filtering material F, and the other, G, by the screw-head e', which presses against the one, G, and holds it and the other parts in place. H is a hollow cylinder or collar constructed at one end with a large screwinouth or opening, h, adapted to tit the hosebib C, and at the other side with a smallerscrew-opening, h', adapted to t the end or heads e of the filter E. By this means the filter may be used on the ordinary hose-bib l now in use.

The operation of the device is as follows: The parts being turned in the position as shown in Fig. l, ii' the ordinary iiow of water is desired thehead B is turned to the left, so

as to bring the spout C around in front, which opens the passage through the device and allows the water to escape. When ltered or pure water is desired the part with the filter attached is brought around to the rightin front, when the passage is again opened, and the water passes through the filter, and is 1purified. By this construction and arrangement of parts there is no place for the water to settlil and corrode the device, the water always being kept back into the pipe or spigot and not in the cock. i i

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A ltering-faucet, wherein the delivery end or mouth is turned to open the passage to the filter or ordinary deliverynozzle, or forms the cock or valve to the device, as described.

2. In a ilteringfaucet, in combination With the downwardly-bent spigot A, the head B,

constructed on one side with an ordinary hose-bib, and at the other with a ltering chamber or end, whereby, by'turning the head around -in one direction, filtered Water may be obtained, or in the other direction the ordinary ow, as and for the purpose described.

3. The fllterin g-chainber E, constructed alike at both ends, with screw-head e and removable screw-head e', and provided in its interior With central filtering material F and Wire-gauze screens G at each side of the filtering material, as and for the purposes described.

4. The combined lter and faucet constructed with tWo separate delivery-mouths, adapted to be used separately and independently of each other by operating or bringing the delivery head or end itself around in position to open the passage through the spigot and head, as and for the purposes described.

5. In combination With the ordinary' hosebib G and filtering-chamber E, the cylinder H. constructed with a large screw-mouth, h, at one end, and a smaller opening, h', at the other, as and for the purposes described.

6. The combination, in a filtering-faucet, ot' spigot-pipe vA, ordinary hose-bib C, delivery end D, and lter E, as and for the purposes described. Y
