` The present invention relates to clothes wringer and has among its objects to ,pro-
` vide a wringer unit comprising wringing apparatus and a power head which includes '5 preferably an electric motor, the unit adapted to be movably mounted on' a suita le support, and removable therefrom.
Another object is to provide for the re' moval of certain elementsas rolls, bearings,
and tension' springs'v from one .end of the lwringer frame.
Another object ofy the present invention 1s to provide acompact wringer unit including wringing apparatus, a driving motor, and enclosed driving connection therebetween and inf which certain of said elements are independently removable as sub-assemblies without'disturbing the assembled relation of the otherof said elements.
Other and further objects and advantages of the present invention will beap arent from the following description, re erence being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein a preferred embodiment of one form I of thepresent invention is clearly shown.

The bracket 2O includes a portion 'which is integral with the hub 21 and whichvincludes two flange members 2()a joined by a web: 20". The edges of the flanges 20a provide surfaces which are parallel to the axis of the hub 21 and provide mounting surfaces against 'which the wringer frame 23 -is secured. The web 20b 4provides a mounting surface for receiving the power head to be described.
The wringer bracket-hubi21 is provided with notches, one shown at 118 in Fig. 1,
which are adapted to receive a. lug 119 carried by post 22 for holding the wringer in a desired operating position. To change the position of the wringer the operator swings the unit causing one notch 118 to move away from lu@r 119 and another notch to bey received iy lug 119 to yieldingly maintain the wringer unit in a new position.

' The power head 25 of the wringer unit will now be described. This power head includes an electric motor 25El provided with a brush lifting reversing switch operated by a lever 120. The switch .is disclosed in the copendl ingapplication. of Ralph L. Lee, Serial No. 629,201, nfiled March 31, v1923. `For the understanding of the present invention'it is suiicient to state that the lever 120 is movable to cause the motor to turnin either direction or to stop the motor. f v
The casing of the' motor includes a part which is integral witha gear housing 27 which is attached toI the web 20" of the. bracket 20v byl screws 36. The armature shaft of the' motor is provided with a worm 26 which isl adapted to extend into the gear housing 27 and drive a-worm gear 28 located therein. Gear housing 27 is open at ,one side and this opening is provided with a cover 29 held in place by screws 30. lAn oil filler opening 31 is provided and 'is closed lll by filler plug 32. Gear housingv 27 is provided with bearing 33 which is adapted to v receive operating shaft 34 to which the gear 28 is keyed. 'llhe bearing 33 provides a relatively long bearing surface for the shaft 34.
'lhe shaft 34 extends through the gear housing 27 and a wall of the web 201 of the I bracket 20. Illhe opening in the bracket l through which the shaft 34 extends is cylindrical and somewhat larger than the shaft and is adapted to receive a cup washer 37 which with the wall of housing 27 provides a lubricant receiving chamber 33.'
During the `operation of the motor some of the oil splashed within the gear housing 27 will enter the passage 39 and flow to the chamber 38 to lubricate ,the shaft 34; rlhe excess lubricant Hows through. the passage 40 back into the gear housing; andsince the lubricant-level in housing 2 is below the f shaft 34, little if any lubricant in said chamber 38 will tend to llowf out around the shaft 34.
lt will be noted that the web 2Ob and the flange member20'f1 are offset in vertical plane from thel airis of hub 21. Shafts 34 and 70 each carry pins 77 which slide within the notches 76 and wire 78 is wrapped around `the sleeve 75 so as to prevent the pin 77 from moving. endwisc. Shafts and 71 are connected by gears 79 and 80 which are enclosed by the bracket 20.
The side walls 53 of the wringer lframe members 50 and-51 extend-'downwardly to enclose the bearings 55 and 56 and the ends of the rolls and to provide an opening for` the introduction of clothes. By enclosing the gearing, universal coupling, andi roll ends, danger to the operator and to the clothes is substantially reduced. Y llt is a'paprent from the foregoing that th power head device and wringing device are removably mounted on opposite sides of the bracket'20; that the wringing device can be removed while still assembled without disturbing the power head device and that the disconnection of the wringing device auto-` matically interrupts the power transmitting connection from the power head device to the wringing device. After the wringer is -removed, the power head can be removed 'as a unit by removing bolts 36.

and then the board can be removed by 'sidewise movement withoiitdisass'enibling the device for maintaining the board in either of'its operating positions. This locking device comprises a sliding pin 68 carried by the :traine 50 (see Fig. 6). Pin 63 has a notch 64 formed by flattening olf a side of pin 63. A pin inserted from the side of the frame 50 is received by the notch 64 and is adapted to cooperate with the ends of the notch to prevent the locking pin 63 frornbeing pulled entirely out of the frame 23. Pin 63 cooperates with holes 66and 67 in the side-rail 60l vthe ends ofthe lower roll 68 and over tthe drainboard' rails 59 and 60. Each ledge is provided with a drip flange 114 located abbve 'the drain board 58, the drain'board58 being cut away slightly as at 116 to provide clearance for said flange 11d. Water tending to f'follow the shafts 70 and 71 drips off onto the ledges 1.18 and is-directed by flanges 114 toward the ldrain board 58. The flanges 114 tend to divert water issuing endwise from the rolls toward the drain board'. The drain board 58 is provided with dripstrips v58a 'tending to prevent water running back under the drain board toward the wringer frame and dripping upon the door.
