6 assembled, provide a mold cavity, the open 1 application of steam, .to vulcanize the rubface of which is closed by what is called a bull ring. These molds, with the'tire to be vulcanized in osition therein, are placed in containers, and subjected to heat, 'as by the ber. There are two (2) kinds ofcontainers ordinarily employed, one, the watch, case type, which holds a single mold, and the other a much larger casing which holds a l multiplicity of assembled molds.
. It is an object of the inventionto provide all-improved mold which maybe used in either of the two kinds of vulcanizers em-' ployed, and by virtueof which the capacity of these vulcanizers can be greatly increased.

In carrying out my invention, I provide two mold cavities with three half rings, in contradistinction to one mold cavity with two half rings. To this end I provide two outer half rings 7 and 8, these rings being right and left hand members, but otherwise the same. Between these half rings I locate the intermediate or third ring 9. which is complementary to the half rings 7 and 8, and cooperates with each to provide the two mold cavities 10 and 11. Each ring 7 and 8 is provided with a clamping lug, flange, or extension 12, and the intermediate ring 9 is also provided with such a portion 13. The clamping means is not shown, as this constitutes a. well known expedient in this art. Any suitable form of clamping m'eans can he used.
The one-half ring membcrs 7 and 8 are each provided with an annular flange or rib .14, and the intermediate ring 9, on its two opposite faces, has a complementary hanging or flange 15, in consequence of which, when the three parts are clamped together, they align themselves into a rigid structure.
The inner peripheral portions of the three rings are shaped to receive the bull rings 16 indicated in light lines, these being the bull rings previously described as closing the open face of the molds.
It will be understood that the inner contour of the rings will vary, according to the con-.
tour-of the particular tire to be vulcanized.
In utilizing this mold in the watch case type of vulcanizer, the molds will be inserted in the vulcanizer in a vertical position, and the steam will be supplied to the vulcanizer in the usual manner. From what has been said, and from inspection of the drawing, it will be seen that the ,thickness of the com pleted mold for vulcanizin two tires is much less than would be require if the usual practice were followed. By the same token, more molds can be vulcanized in existing vulcanizers of the other tvpe.
. When utilizing type of vulcanizer, it will be desirable to-provide special means for additionally heating the intermediate ring, so as to secure a more uniform heating throughout the entire mold. To this .end, I may the mold in the watch. case. 80

Steam is v admitted at one point to this pipe, and flows around it, and thence-outwardly, as by means of the connections shown. The intake and outlet ends of the pipe can be taken care of through the central 0 en part of the mold.
