REFLECTOR-SUPPORTED LIGHT-SOCKET MOUNTING.
Application filed April 22, v192v. Serial No.- 185,803.
This invention relates to the mounting of a light bulb supporting'socketed plug upon a reflector. a The chief objectof the invention is to detachably but rigidly mount a light bulb sup porting socketed plug upon a reflector such that the filament is positioned in predetermined relation to'the reflector focus or refiecting surface. 4 The chief feature of the invention consists in the provision of a refiectorsupported plug receiving sleeve and yieldingly associating therewith a light bulb supported socketed plug, said sleeve and plug having a detach- 'able and pin and slot connection for rigidly but detachably connecting the same for predetermined positioning.
The full nature of the invention will be understood from. the accompanying drawin'gs and the following description and claims:
Fig. 1 is an elevational View of one form of the invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 22 of Fig. 1 and in the direction of the arrows. Fig, 3 1s a longitudinal central sectional view of a modified form of the invention. Fig 4 is an elevational' view of the reflector supported socket support shownin Fig, 3. Fig. 5 is an elevational view of the light bulb supporting socketed plug shown in Fig. 3.
In the drawings IO'indicates a reflector rigidly mounting in its central aperture 11 a sleeve 12. Said sleeve includes apair of bayonet or J-slots 13 in opposed or diametrical relation. The sleeve is open at both ends and slidably and rotatably receives a light bulb supporting socketed plug 14 which includes the J-slots 15 at its forward end to receive a. light bullo 16 having the co-op ,erating anchoring pins 1-7 and including a filament 18 which is adapted to coincide with the focus of the reflector or to be positioned in predetermined relation with reference to the reflecting surface. i
The plug supports a pair of radially-extending pins 19 and herein the same are shown separated and oppositelyextending,
said pins being receivable by the sleeve slots 13 for anchoring the plug 14 in the sleeve and in predetermined relation to the reflector 10. Bearing against pins 19 is awasher or retaining ring 20 and interposed between said ring and the anchoring flange 21 of the sleeve is 'acoil spring 22 for normally maintaining pins 19 seated in the oifset portion 93 of the J orbayonet slot 13 for yieldingly retaining the plug in predetermined position in the sleeve.
In Fig. 3 a modified form of the invention is illustrated,-,and herein the reflector 10 supports a sleeve 112 in turn supporting aspring 22 and a washer or ring 20, said sleeve 112 having the J-slot 113 with the anchoring ofl'set seat portion 123 therein to receive tongues 119 struck from the plug 114 at 109. Said plug 114 includes a bayonet slot 115 for .receiving the pins 17 of the light bulb 16. In this form of the invention the slot receivable pinsare formed integral with and from the plug exterior shell portion. The invention claimed is: I
1. In a he d lamp construction, the combination of areflector supported sleeve, 9. plug slidably and rotatably receivable there-' by, said plug including in one end a light bulb receiving socket, a plurality of anchoring slots in said sleeve, a plurality of cooperating pins seatable in said slots for detachably connecting the plug and sleeve, a
retainer slidably mounted on said sleeve and retainedthereon by said pins, and yielding means for maintaining the pin and slot connection intact, said retainer being interposed between said pins and yielding means.
'2'. A device as defined by claim '1 characterized by said pins comprising outwardly directed projecting portions formed integral with the plug.
- In witnesswhereof, I have hereunto aflixed my signature.
