The object of my invention is to construct an improved and simplified form of electric relay, particularly adapted for radio service. In order to moreclearly set forth my invention I have shown one embodiment thereof in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a plan view of the relay with the cover removed, the outline of the cover being indicated in dotted lines; r

Referring to the drawings, 11 is the base, preferably made of insulatlng material, and 12 is the cover provided with spring latches 13 which pass through notches 14 in the base to hold the cover in place. Fastened to the base 11 is the supporting frame 15. As shown the supporting frame is formed from one piece of sheet metal having magnetic roperties, one portion being bent under to orm a base as indicated at 16, and another portion 17 is bent laterally to provide a support for the coil 18 which is fastened by a screw or bolt 19 passing through the hole 20 in the portion 17.
The other end of the supporting frame is notched to provide lugs 21 whlch freely enter notches 22, 22 in the armature 23, to thus provide a loose pivotal mounting for the armature. This arrangement also prevents relative displacement between the armature and' the supporting frame, except in a direction perpen icular to the plane of the armature. To prevent movement in this direction also a locking-plate 24 isprovided. As shown this is of sheet material with an aperture 25 therein adapted to pass over the end of the armature 23. Two rojections 26, 26 extend laterally from this lockingplate and are adapted to be bent into notches 27 provided in the edges of the supporting frame 15. To prevent the locking-plate from pulling off from the frame, each projection 26 is provided with an offset portion To give the armature a normal bias away from the magnet, a spring 29 is connected to the armature as indicated at 30 (Fig. 1), and the other end is'fastened to an adjusting screw 31 threaded through a tapped hole 32 in the ear 33 which is punched out laterally from the supporting frame 15. The tension of the spring maybe adjusted by means of the screw 31 and then the screw locked in position by means of the nut The contacts 35 (Fig. l) are carried by the armature in the usual way well understood in the art, and being no part of my invention require no detailed description.
It will thus be seen that I have provided a simple and inexpensive construction which is at the same time very effective for the purposes intended.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a relay, a supporting frame having lugs at one end, an armature notched to receive said lugs and a locking-plate apertured to pass over the end of the armature and having lugs engaging notches in the edges of the supporting frame.
2. An electric relay having a su )porting frame with lugs at one end thereo for the reception of an armature, an armature notched to cooperate with the frame, and a locking-plate having an aperture for the reception of the armature, projections on the locking-plate for engaging notches on the frame, said projections having offset portions for holding the locking-plate in place.
3. An electric relay, having a supporting frame with lugs at one end thereof for the reception of an armature, an armature notched to cooperate with the frame, and a locking-plate of sheet metal having an aperture for the reception of the armature, projections integral with said plate and bent perpendicular thereto for engaging notches on the frame, said projections having offset portions for holding the locking-plate in place.

6. For an electric relay, a notched armature, abiasing spring therefor, a one-piece supporting frame having a portion bent per pendicular thereto to constitute a base, a second laterally bent portion for supporting a magnet said frame having lugs at the end thereof for cooperating with notches in the armature to provide a pivotal mounting; for said armature, and said frame having an ear integral with and extending laterally therefrom for engaging one end of the armature biasing spring.
