My present invention relates to electric switches of the liquid flow type and particularly to a mercury switch having a sealed vitreous envelope and to a means for supportingnnd for protecting the envelope and for making electrical connections to the switch terminal.
It is an object of my invention to prov de a mounting bar for a mercury switch which bar acts as a protecting means for the glass of the switch, as a means for pivotally or otherwise mounting the switch, and as a means for supporting the switch electrode connecting terminals. I
It is a further object of my invention to provide connecting terminals for the switch which serve also as a means for mounting the switch envelo e to the mounting bar.
It is also an ob ect of my invention to pro vide means for further protecting the switch envelope and its parts.
Further objects of my lnventlon will appear from the specification and drawings.

In Figs. 2 and 3 are shown a acket 14 protecting sleeve 14 mounted about the envelope 5 and held between said envelope and said bar 1 by means of the said straps 4, 4. At one end the tubular jacket has been cut transversely and longitudinally to form the de-- pending guards 15-15 which extend downwardly on either side of the bulb 10 of the envelope 5. A slot 17 is provided in the upper part of the jacket for the sealbfi tip 18 of envelope 5, the counterbore "19 being formed in bar 1 for the positioning of said seal off therein. Fig. 4 shows the jacket 14 separated from the switch unit and shows details of the guards 15 and said slot 17.
In the use and operation of my invention mechanical connection is made by bar 1 to sultable mounting means and to tilting or shifting means for causing movement of the mercury in the switch for the opening and closing of the circuit therethrough. A method an means of mounting and using and op crating the switch-bar unit of my invention thereof and mounted to said screws to hold said envelope to said bar, nuts and washerson said screws for holding said straps and for oonnectin lineleads thereto.
