IMPROVEMENT IN BALE-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 169,493, dated November 2, 1875; application filed October 16, 1875.
of a Wire band to engage a loopon the other end, said hook having a brace extending from itsbase along the line of the strain and terminating in an eye, through which the eye that engages the hook passes, so that the brace is supported, and the eye engaging the hook is securely kept on it, both the hook and doubled wire of the band, making a strong and reliable fastening.
Figure 1 is a plan of my improved bale-tie, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the hook; B, the brace extending beyond the hook from its base; and C is the eye for engaging the hook, said eye first passing through an eye of the brace, so 'as to hold the foot of the brace for supporting the hook, and to be held on the hook by the brace.
The hook and the eyes are formed by bending the wires and twisting the bent portions, all so that the tie is constructed in a simple and cheap way.
7 Having thus described my invention,Iclai1n as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The hook A, having a brace, B, which constitutes an eye, which receives and secures the eye 0, substantially as specified.
