IMPROVEMENT IN FLOORS FOR REFRIGERATING-HOUSES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. 169348 l dated November 2,1875; application tiled July 12, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, GEORGE ROCHEVOT, of Buffalo, and FRIEDRICH SCHMIDT, of New York city, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Floor for Refrigerating Rooms or Houses, of which the following is a specication:
The nature of our invention consists in chamfering the sides of the flooring-boards,
and to arrange troughs belowA these beveled edges in connection with a cross-trough or troughs, in which the drip is caught and carried oli" to the exit-pipe. By this construction a perfectly-smooth ooring can be obtained, and the cost is considerably reduced.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I repsesents a top view, Fig. II a cross-section, and Fig. III a longitudinal section, of a oor embodying our invention.
A and B are the beams to support the floor. Arranged in the usual manner upon the beamsB the ooring boards or planks U are fastened. These planks have their sides u chamfered, and are laid about onequarter or one-half inch apart. Below these joints or chamfered edges troughs D are arranged, in-
serted into the beams B, and connected with one or more cross-troughs, E, through which the collected drippings are conducted into an exit-pipe. The planks C and troughs D mayr be arranged to incline slightly toward the cross-connecting troughs E to fac1l1'tate the running off of the water.
By this arrangement we obtain a perfectlysmooth ooring, dispense with all corrugated metallic plates, as the troughs D may be formed of wood grooved 'or hollowed Out,rand the troughs E can be formed in the same manner.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is I The combination of the planks C, having their sides n chamfered, the longitudinal troughs D, and the cross-troughs E, arranged and constructed substantially in the manner and for the purpase hereinbefore set forth.
